Decat pipe and lambda sensor query

As said above, the lambda sensor screws into the de cat pipe, where the nut is welded in place on the pipe. Though the lambda sensor may be difficult to unscrew from the original due to corrosion on the cat and years worth of heat cycles with it expanding and contracting. What I did to remove...

    air filter

More efficient air filters improve fuel economy. As more air in the engine means more power, so to get to the same level of power with a less efficient filter more revs are required, more revs=more fuel Thats the principal anyway

Looking at getting new Exhaust System

Well be careful it's not to close to the diffuser as the heat can melt it. Try to make sure it's central in the holes, as it's not that noticeable close up if they're not. I've spoken to a couple of people who have had that issue.

Looking at getting new Exhaust System

Bigger isn't always better, you want the smallest one that's big enough, the smaller the pipe the higher the speed of the exhaust gasses=more torque, the smallest system that isn't too restrictive is the one to have. The principal is the same with induction and inlet to the engine. It's not...

    air filter

There are panel filters made by firms like itg which fit into the standard airbox or there are induction kits using cone type filters ktec sell them itg do them too and there are others. Though from what I have read the original airbox design is effective and the only advantage with the...

    Bonnet vent

Would a bigger water pump help. I know that early dolomite sprints had heat issues so to solve it they fitted the larger water pump from the triumph stag.

    Steering column RHD/LHD

These cars have height adjustable columns and I THINK* I'm right in saying that the more basic clios it was optional, so there is probably at least 2 variants. *think, not know, just think.

    Bonnet vent

I'd be looking at alloy radiators first, I would be reluctant to start cutting holes in the bonnet. My opinion.

New to forum and clio 200. Little advice needed

My car doesn't run well until it's warm, and it doesn't like cheap fuel. I only ever use vpower or equivalent, the throttle response and fuel consumption is noticeably better on the good stuff. The first time I filled it up I used shells regular fuel but it idled at between 700 and 1500 rpm but...

Exhaust fitting - Return to OEM?

The exhaust system has, essentially 3 bits, the manifold/pre cat then there is a join to the main cat then another join to the rest of the system, a cat back system attaches to the main cat using the original clamp. I've attached a photo of the cat, at the end it is flared, the beginning of the...

Clio 197 Track/ Race Car Build

In removing the cage you haven't damaged/cut any of the tubes have you, as if you've cut anything other than the welds (which can be re welded) then the cut tube will have to be replaced. Generally the done thing is to replicate the original cage as it can be extremely difficult to remove a...

    200 wheels on a 197

I've noticed in the last few weeks a lot of people seem to want to do this, in my opinion the 197 wheels look better (black or white), they are probably what I'd replace 200 wheels with. Your car, just my opinion.

One of my rear calipers seized up a few months back and needed replacing. Apparently it's a common issue. So its not unlikely.

    Wheel bolt question

So long as the thread and taper is the same there shouldn't be an issue. And you tighten them to the correct torque, I'm not sure if it's 120 or 130nm, you need to look that up.

The engine turns over but won't start.

It was happy yesterday, its done this before. Last time I disconnected the battery and re connected it and it fired up. It's disconnected again and I'm leaving it for a while. Seems strange though that all other non start problems I've read about seem to be starter motor related but my engine...
