Decatted midpipe- plug and play?

Hi everyone,

Been keeping an eye out for midpipes with only the resonator and no catalytic converter.

For what it’s worth, I’ve had my eye on this one:

Ultimately and most importantly, I want something lightweight compared to the stick midpipe, but might as well get rid of the cat as well. Also, if anyone knows the lightest weight midpipe, please do share!

Anyway… the big question is whether this is plug and play? I’ve read it will throw a fault in the dash. Is there a way to trick the computer? Or do you just ride around with the light on?

Interested to hear what you guys do in this case. Thanks!

If the cat is removed and the oxygen sensor is disconnected it will throw a fault,
You can get 'lambda foolers' which will screw into the port on a decat pipe and then the sensor screws into that, but never used one myself.
Otherwise it's a remap or drive with the fault.

Can I ask why you want to remove the cat? I have a res-delete pipe you're welcome to, this made the exhaust sound a bit raspy (was a temporary measure since my resonator has crapped itself and at the time I had not purchased the exhaust system I wanted), this kept the cat in place.

Hi Steve, I appreciate the insight!

“lambda foolers” okay good to know.

Removing the cat there would be for performance gains, as I am eyeing these mild cams I’m looking to get my hands on.

I live in Greece so from what I understand, there are emissions checks. I need to learn more, as I’m new to these emissions checks as we never have these where I’m originally from. But either way, I will find a way around it. I’m eco-friendly but not when the powers that be can ignore them meanwhile I stifle my fun for my weekend driven 4 cylinder engine haha.

Thank you for the offer though, but it’s not something I’d be interested in.

In my E36 M3 I removed the cat but was really skeptical of removing the resonator due to the noise. I’m all for some rasp but would hate if it got out of control loud. Is it quite tolerable from your experience? Drone? Of course I’d be driving it with the stock end pipe.
