My Ultra Red 197

After not using the car for a couple of days, the power seems to have returned and is behaving itself again! Hopefully this will continue, or whatever was wrong will be found during mapping at the end of June.

And K-tec have been in contact and said that the correct set of wheels should finally be here in the next couple of weeks but after everything I’m not holding my breath.

So my wheels finally turned up yesterday. I was made up until I realised they had forgotten to put the spigot rings in with the fitting kit. K-tec we’re shut by the time I had realised, so I’ve ordered a set off Amazon as I’m dying to get them on ASAP, then il get in touch with them on Monday. Had them fitted with some Toyo’s anyway so I can get them on as soon as the spigots arrive.

Much better imo. Hopefully il get the car cleaned and them fitted tomorrow after what seems like forever

What year is your Clio?

Ordered the camshaft sensor at Renault but they said there are two kinds with my VIN, I said the one with three wires, but there are two sensors for my built years with 3 wires. I have one of the first cars that rolled of the assembly line.

I don't fancy taking everything apart and wait for Renault to supply, last time I ordered the TDC sensor it took 3 days!

After some research online I removed my sensor to get the correct part number incase I decide to order one at some point

Looking on RPD I can’t find one with the correct number

Yea it looks like Renault has superseded the part number the one in my 2008 197 is 8200033686 and looking up general part sites you find this so Renault must have changed supplier or internal design change of the part and now use part number 8200285798

Noticed a little oil on the rocker cover today

Possibly a leaky VVT solenoid seal? Or from the bolt next to it?

I would say it was a spill from when the oil was changed as free pouring oil from the jar is very hard to do as there is no oil on the coil pack or between the solenoid and the dip in the engine casting best to check the coil pack and plug for oil.

clean off with brake cleaner and check after a few days if it comes back just take the bolt out clean off and a smear of rtv under the bolt head and refit

So over the weekend I took a trip to the Peak District with my better half and managed to cover just under 300 miles on a variety of roads. Couldn’t be happier with how the car performs now, so much better low down, all the cold start issues iradicated. Definitely money well spent :thumb:

Whilst I was away these arrived from Mega Carbon

Hopefully il get chance to fit the and give her a well needed wash over the weekend.

Noticed I’ve got a dipped beam bulb out this morning, so Il take a trip to the local motor factors after work and hope they can inform me which is the correct one

Looks like you have projectors ? H1 bulbs for those I believe.

Bit of a pig to change, but just give yourself an hour and steady away.

So after about 30mins of my time, id managed to lose a considerable amount of skin off of my knuckles, and the will to live I gave up trying to get the bulb out! Il probably have another go this week as I won’t be driving in the dark before then. And if I still can’t do it Il have to bite the bullet and take the front end off

To cheer myself up i took a trip to Clwyd Practical Classics today, no Renault sports there unfortunately but still some lovely motors. Here’s a few pics I took on my phone.

And it would of been rude not to get a couple of my own.

Cars running great now after last years gearbox, the recent service, and the remap, A real pleasure to drive.

The easiest way to change your headlight bulb is to take off the front bumper. Then take off the light. It sounds silly but it stops faffing around unless you have tiny child like hands.
