After getting my Clio 200RS not even 2 weeks ago, I was shunted at a roundabout whilst stationary , insurance company are saying it’s likely to be a total loss which I’m absolutely gutted about as obviously not had the car long and it being very minimal damage which I could probably buy back off insurance company and repair but means it’ll be registered as a write off which will more than half its value E681388B-5D30-4EB9-AA4E-EEA4728CCB88.jpeg9B355F06-7C0C-438D-8273-425B8C545072.jpeg69DC774B-703D-4204-91DF-28778DF0192F.jpeg

Take a look at the boot floor and if it’s fine push for the insurance company to repair. It’s a bit more work and not really your responsibility but a wheel alignment to check the rear axle and inspection of the boot floor with the diffuser off would also help make a case for repair.

Will have a look I’ve checked the boot floor from inside there’s no damage at all, got hit by a Capteur and mines lowered so boot took the impact so fingers crossed I can chuck a new tailgate on it and repaint the bumper and will b me all good, I think they are but would anyone know for definite if the standard clio tailgates are the same as the 200?

There are a few back tailgates on ebay for £100-£150, easy enough to change yourself.

Who you insured with? My daughters clio was hit last year and admiral gave us no option to buy it back. Gutted for you though mate, not how you want new car ownership to start!

Nice update on this, so after the accident on Tuesday I originally contacted the insurance company, they told me mine would possibly be a total loss. I told them to hold fire with the claim as I knew I would buy the car back if it was and repair it but didn't want it registered as a Cat N etc. I contacted the girl who hit me and explained the situation and she agreed she would prefer to sort out away from insurance as her excess was high :thumb: So went to a few body shops and got a few quotes, quotes ranged from £700 and all the way up to £1300. I kind of lost hope this was going to be sorted outside of insurance then Thursday afternoon I was dropping a friend to the the next village and drove past the small industrial estate literally 2 mins down the road to me and clocked a sign for a body shop so popped in he was very helpful and explained the tailgate would have to be replaced obviously but he could repair and paint the rear bumper RESULT!!! gave me a quote of £370 to paint the replacement tailgate and to repair and paint the bumper :grinning: I think someone on here put a couple of links up for a few tailgates on eBay which I checked then managed to find one off a 197 in the same colour which also had a spoiler attached aswell for £126 including delivery so all in the repair is going to cost me less than £500 and I'm going to gain a spoiler which I would've bought at later date anyway :thumb: Gave the girl a call told her the quote and she was more than happy as it was going to save her nearly £200 plus the bonus of not losing her no claims i had the money transfered to me half hour later and got the tailgate ordered which should be with me Tuesday/Wednesday next week then hopefully should be back looking as fresh as it did in a couple of weeks.

Similar thing happened to me after 4 weeks owning my F1, I got it repaired privately it was just a boot lid replace.
The woman who hit me told the Police I abused her! Which simply didn’t happen. On reflection of reviewing the facts and her attitude I know that she was texting when she hit me but I didn’t bother reporting this.

I 100% you tell your insurance company it’s possible they were on their phone, and get this checked because it could save someone else’s life.

All stripped to go down to body shop tomorrow no other damage behind the bumper apart from the upper bracket which has cracked but no panel damage so pleased with that can’t wait to get it back looking fresh again. On an other issue whilst I had it jacked up I noticed the front under tray hanging down on 1 side so jacked the front up and found a nice rotten cross member new part ordered so will be a front and rear strip down next week
