The crunchy 197

I was under the impression people generally fitted them when they raised the rev limiter.
I guess you could fit them as a precautionary measure, but I won’t be bothering until this engine dies.

So far it’s taken everything I can throw at it since I purchased it in 2018. It was a track car prior to me buying it, but the engine seems healthy still.

They were ‘alright’ for the first lap. The second they felt much better until the nut incident. I’m hoping for some dry-ish weather when I go to Oulton in December to try them out.

They’re 190/630/17. So a little narrow, but perfect for the TD’s as they’re only 7j.
Yes they’re TM02’s.... a fat finger moment from me.

Oh perfect, be interesting to hear your review, sorry I was checking if there was another make of Kumhos that I had not heard of haha.
As i've seen them and they look well priced, but never seen anyone use them, they are also E-Marked....so road legal!

The TDs sit really well being 7J! Also I guess they sit more proud than 190, probably closer to 200-205 so look spot on.

Yeah they’re more 200 section really. Nice and square on the 7j anyway.

Even though I’d had bad experiences with the V70a in hard compound, I thought I’d give these a try at £350 delivered.

Clios sat untouched since the ring..... hadn’t even washed it.
With Oulton booked for the 18th December, I had to put some time into replacing the studs. After the amount of Loctite we’d used refitting my old ones at the ring, a little heat and some more leverage was required to extract them. I also took the opportunity to refit my arch liners given that the weather is crap this time of year.

Oulton is only 50 mins away from home, so we didn’t even bother taking the trailer this time. Weather was wet, windy, and cold.

The first time I’ve done a day there and there’s been so little grip. Rain just before dinner-time actually seemed to improve grip, but it soon ‘dried’ back to what felt like wet lard.
The day went pretty well, though the group of us had a few ‘moments’. One of the lads managed to end up in the gravel, and the day was ended 40 mins early. Track ‘officials’ were soon to slate the shit through us to the rest of the paddock over the tannoy.
Not once have I been to a trackday where I felt like we were getting told off like a group of kids for ‘going too fast’
Never have I ever had the arse end of my car out, but it now seems the norm since fitting the coilovers.
Few pics of the day:

Oh if anyone was wondering.....

What a waste of money! Ktec still adamant I’m the only person to have this issue, and have now said it’s my balancer which has perished which is causing the bolts to snap.
I should of just fucking bought the PMS kit in the first place. Live and learn tho’

In other news - Made a start porting out my inlet.

a lot of tidying left to do

I have acquired a spare set of inlet manifolds and was going to get Max at Ms Custom Engineering to port match and gas flow the manifolds.

Are you just grinding out excess metal by hand?

Yeah just porting them to match the gasket and taking out any excess material.

My mates just had his done by Max. He did a really nice job - though I’d recommend cleaning the ports out when you get them back.

That’s the one yeah. My wallets not quite as big as his, that’s why I’m having a bash at it myself.

I’ve got a V6 box to go on too. Just need to sort the wiring and battery side of things out first.

The standard tensioner and assembly is going back on at the weekend. I’ve had enough of it.

It’s annoyed me that ktec are blaming my crank pulley/dampener.

Yeah pisstake that, if it was PMS it wouldn't have failed, but if it did they've have helped sort it straight away, as you said, live and learn!

I’m sure there’s dyno plots somewhere showing gains.
But I’ve no idea personally as I’ve still not finished doing them :tearsofjoy:
