Getting to know my Clio.

Hi everyone.
My first french car and what can I say. It’s definitely a love hate relationship.
I bought the car in October. All was good fir the first few weeks when all of a sudden a slight nock. Then a slight whining noise both got worse. Turned out the vvt polly was gone even tho cam belt had been done not 10k ago . So first big job.
Now The nocking. Ball joints track rod ends and steering rack. Its all booked in to get this work done next week. Also with new thermostat new abs sensor map sensor heat sensor and breaks.
To make it my own I got myself a toyo manifold and a custom exhaust from long life. All engine mounts polly bushed ( feels like a real car vibrating it’s tits off so much so I can’t see out the rear view but I love it [emoji23])
It’s in fir re map at end of the month and I have got a ported throttle body on order and hope to get the ported inlet manifold in the next few weeks.
My idea is to have a little track toy for when all this blows over. Any way just want to say thank you to everyone who has posted on hear and give such helpful advice. IMG_2913.jpgHope we can all meet up some time soon.

Welcome! Hope you get the various bits and pieces sorted soon. I also have replaced lower Engine and torque arm bush with uprated mounts, so know what you mean about savage vibrations, I love it too! Feels like a race car lol.

These cars do need a bit of TLC, but you can do most of it yourself fairly easily. There's an excellent "how to" section on the forum which will guide you through most the common replacements required, so worth becoming a paid member if you'll want to do a few things yourself.

Thank you Chris. To be fair I paid for membership straight away as I know how helpful theses places are and the diagrams and descriptions are fantastic. I’m struggling to find a realisable mechanic to do my work as the place i booked into just fobbed me off . I don’t have the patience or confidence to do fiddly little jobs and I’m to clumsy.

Fair enough, most of the servicing on these cars is bolt on, bolt off. However it's a ridiculously tight engine bay and things I would assume are simple, turn out to be frustratingly fiddly! So if you have limited patience, some jobs will not be suitable for DIY!

I changed my thermostat this afternoon and had to take half the car apart to get to it! Getting the battery housing in and out is a nightmare (it was for me anyway!)

Any queries, let us know. There's a few problems that are fairly common on these cars and various ways to resolve each one.

I don't know any garages to recommend in your area, but perhaps someone more local will be able to help with that.
