When your doing them up by yourself they are very hard to deal with I always go with a new clamp it's hard to pull the two pipes together and keep the pressure while fitting the clamp at the same time. Check the subframe clearance and if need be loosen the top and bottom engine mount bolts so you can adjust the front to rear engine roll which should help the lineup of the manifold to the mid pipe and close the distance, the mid pipe mount has some forward rear adjustment which can also close the distance. I used a small ratchet strap to help pull the pipes together fit the clamp heat up the exhaust and tighten off the clamp.

Il give that a go, it seals and then starts leaking a few days after

I got my local exhaust crowd to chop the exhaust and manifold and change it over to the normal type flanges. Cuts out 90% of the issue.

I get this too - have lived with it for the last 12 months or so resealing it every couple of months. I plan on taking it to a garage and having them cut and weld on some v-bands. Possibly quite an expensive job for what it's worth but it'll never leak again!
