LY Progress **Page 4 New Updates**

So the next update was the fact that when I bought the car the heater never worked on No 4 blower.
I knew exactly what it was but just never got round to fixing it until now (Only taken 3 years)

New genuine item bought as it has the correct thickness of wires and they are doubled also to handle the heat / current as renault seen there was an issue with these. A cheap ebay item as looked at but after being told by my specialist that the OE item had been changed for the reason of them blowing I went with the OE item.

I had to do the same job on mine I did not really want to cut the loom and it was the plastic that was melted so I got a connector from a crashed car that was good extracted the pins from the damaged one clean them up and put them into the replacement connector has worked fine for the last 4 -5 years. I think this only melts when the pollen filter has not been changed or has got wet or blocked with leaves and the fan motor has to run harder with less air flow cooling it.

That looks so good on a liquid yellow Clio. The black of the splitter works so well against yellow.

So some more updates today and once again cosmetic.
For the last two years a small bubble of rust has started where the bumper meets the rear 1/4 and the bubble came off.

Spoke to my mate who has been doing smart repairs for the last 15 years and he was very reluctant to do it due to it being LY.
I convinced him that the paint I had was a good match and he said ok.

I spoke to a very very knowledgable man who knows a lot about LY Paint and he told me everything I needed to know and thankfully last year he sent me paint that he says was a 99.9% match and it was the only paint he would use from a specific supplier.

Anyway here is the rust spot that has been doing my nut in

Here is now the finished article and the work that was carried out was perfect and done to a very very high standard.

Next up as some people have seen on the forum I have been rebuilding the door handles and I have changed all the micro switches and I held out until I could get stuff painted a specific colour (Nissan K.A.D) so today while I had the chance I managed to get them all done.

Now just to get into the garage and rebuild them back up

So thought I would change the door handles over and what a nightmare that is.

Popped the Gromit off to turn the T30 torx and it just kept spinning and spinning and nothing happened.
Gave up on that so tried to get the main handle out. After messing about with this the large metal block that is attached to the white plastic clip has fully dismantled and is hanging inside the door not attached to anything and not working.
This means that I cant fit the door handle.

So im now driving around with no door card, Half the stuff inside the door stripped and hanging and no door handle on the outside.

Totally a C**T of a job and not a job I want to do so off we head today to my renault specialist to have them do the handles.

I don't know if this helps see how the barrel clicks back in but if the rivet head is drilled you should be able to take the internal handle part out and refit or check for damage
