Alien Green 200 Cup *** New AG 200 (number 3) from page 85***

@N0ddie Not trying to hijack, just wondering if you have any thoughts on Cooksport vs H&R springs? I just bought my first ever 200 a few weeks ago, and the previous owner had fitted H&R springs. They seem borderline too firm, the car gets really unsettled on bumpy B-roads (or maybe my dampers are shagged :S ), but perhaps they will perform better on track.

Also, I'm planning on buying some cheap track wheels (your Alleggerita's are stunning btw!) and fitting some AR1's or Cup 2's (be interested to see what you go for there).... do you expect to get any rubbing with the 225 section tyres when combined with lowering springs?

I will be getting coilovers but not sure if I can stretch the monies that far this season. Wheels, tyres and brakes (PF 330mm kit) are what I want done before I hit the track in May (Maybe earlier if dates work out).

I'm hard on tyres:

Tbh, I've only driven the car like 3 times since I bought it (430 miles when picking it up, once to work and one just for a play) so can't give too much of a review. Though I will say that the car didn't feel overly harsh on the 430 mile journey home.

As for tyres. I think I'll go for the Ar-1s though I will be sticking to 215/45/17 size.

Thanks for the answers mate, will keep an eye on the thread.

The price of AR1's seems to be pretty high atm... I will let you know if I find any good deals! What coilovers are you planning on going for?

I ran KW Clubsports on my first AG 200 and loved them so will be going for those for sure.

I have had Bilstein B14s and H&R coilovers previously on 200 but found some issues with both.

Bilsteins were very harsh in terms of ride quality. Worse than the H&R springs plus cup shock combo. With the H&R coilovers all I got when pushing on was understeer.

Have you looked at AST's? Seem like another popular alternative, and slightly cheaper then the KW's.

Not cheaper if you want the adjustable front top mounts. I did look yes, however the good ones are a lot more expensive than their entry level ones.

Ah okay, hadn't seen that. I wonder if we can get a group buy going for the KW's when you come to getting them.

I know @APM had £300 off during Black Friday, maybe they can do something.

The ASTs with their adjustable top mounts are £2300 vs the KW Clubsport £2050. The KWs do offer more adjustability but the ASTs do offer multiple spring rates. Hmmmm. I'm now torn :astonished:

Be careful running AR1’s as road tyres I’m sure I saw a set destroyed very quickly that way.

They come with 5.5mm tread as standard and have minimal cut in them. Any rain or surface water would be catastrophic!!

Yeah I’d always advise taking a second set of alloys to trackdays

Where's your sense of adventure?
When we did How Fast as a club back in 2013 I drove down to Bedford and back on AO48s.

The last time I did trackdays was probably about 4 years ago so trackday tyres have definitely moved on since then. I assume the R888-r isn't that great now?

They are an awful lot cheaper now than the old R888s were.

Haha I’ve drove too and fro with ad08r but
anything like ar1 I wouldn’t bother. No point spending a fortune on great trackday tyres and ruining them on crappy roads.
For the sake of taking a jack and torque wrench. Besides with the uk weather I’d hate to drive in wet conditions on them.
Clio’s got easily enough room

@Beany What about 40 minutes each way? Even then would you drive and then swap? That's about my distance from Snetterton.
I did snetterton to home on ad08r and that’s 3hrs for me. Purely because it was nice weather and I couldn’t be bothered. I still had my PS4s in the back.
Donington and Cadwell are about an 1hr from me and I wouldn’t drive the semi’s there or back. Soon it won’t matter as I have a set of slicks

I done Knockhill in a hurricane and monsoon on the older R888s. I found them amasing in the wet conditions tbh as the only struggled with the standing water/stream running down Duffus.

I was very surprised how good they were in the wet.
