Start Relay?

So from my last post car still isn't moving....

checked all the earths and is earthing fine, new battery and new starter still nothing.
which leads to my question of where is the start relay? as in the boxes around the battery there was a single 50A relay which I tested and is working fine. is that relay the starter relay? or is it somewhere else as I've got the problem down to 2 things:
1. exciter wire for the starter motor doesn't ever get a signal when trying to start the car
2. the actual power supply wire for the starter is only showing <1v volt but battery is not the problem here.

So is it the starter relay? and where is it?
if not what the hell is it?

Thanks in Advance

Checked all the fuses in both banks around the battery as none are labelled and all are fine

Yeah checked the big boy fuses on the main lead and is all good. This is a weird part, when it's all wired in, I get less than 1 volt down the lead to the starter and the signal wire never gets any voltage what so ever when actually trying to start the car.

that's why I want to check the relay because as far as I could see yesterday there was nothing wrong with the wires and it could spin the starter if I just wired it straight to the motor to make sure I didn't have a dead new one.

But I can't find another relay it could be apart from the one pictured

Did you ever get this resolved? I'm having pretty much the exact same issue.

Replaced the relay, fuses look okay, starter live gets 12v but the exciter wire on the starter doesn't. However in the upc it does?

There is a fuse in the UPC (box behind the headlight) that controls the starter if the heat shield touches the terminal on the starter the fuse blows it happen me when the manifold was changed one sign is the display says steering unlocked and the starter does not turn. There are threads with pictures our mate in Sweden had the same problem the link should be on his thread the red 197.

This was the exact problem on mine.
the fuse is in the box to the side of the battery underneath another little plastic flap

I've checked the fuses in there for the starter on mine (upc) and they're fine, did actually change the relay in there too

But I'm having the exact same thing

I get power to the main cable for the starter at both ends, the exciter wire in the upc gets 12v, but on the starter itself I get less than 1v.

Ruled an earth out by putting a jump lead from the battery to a bolt for the engine mount

Yeah you're having the exact same symptoms mine was having.

But if you opened up that little box and moved the plastic flap at the bottom to see the rest of the fuses at the bottom to check the starter signal fuse I have no idea.

Yeah that's the thing, it's really strange! I tested for continuity on the wire and there was none but I don't know of that's just my multimeter haha, but I checked that 25a fuse in the box behind the headlight/to the right of the battery and it's okay

Changed the relay on the bottom right too d13d3b5e29c0a321b8ed70ac91e81db7.jpg

I am shooting a bit in the dark here but have you checked the voltage across the fuse when trying to turn the car over? if it gets nothing then voltage across fuse to earth as maybe a break in the wire somewhere?

Yes mate! I got 12v to the exciter wire in the upc, but I didn't seem to get any at the starter end, checked for continuity etc

But I did actually try and put a direct 12v feed to the starter from the battery and it didn't crank so I think the starter has actually died on me

Have read a few times of the starter motors getting too hot from exhaust manifold if your don't have the heat shield round the starter although I've been running without for a few months now and hasn't had any problems.

Think RPD can do starters for £20 if you don't mind a used one
