Another mapping question...

I've read quite a few threads on here discussing mapping but but this specifically applies to KTEC stage 1.

The car is standard, even has the standard air filter. I'm considering getting it mapped. I've read gains of around 10bhp, which in the scale of things will make no difference.

Thing is I'm happy with how it runs now I've had the flexis fixed in the exhaust manifold. Much better cold start and more responsive.

So I guess the question is has anyone had a standard car and done stage 1 with Ktec and would you/would you not for the money do it again and why?

Sorry to disappoint you but the best you can hope for really is getting close to what Renault claim they had from new. You might be lucky and have a strong engine and get a couple of bhp more but that's all. You're right in that you won't notice the difference in terms of power, the car should drive better though. I don't know about this stage 1 thing they do but last thing I heard about them was they were doing RS Tuning's maps. KTEC's dyno is notoriously generous with its readings so it may look like you've got 205 - 210bhp but take the car to EFI or RS after and you'll probably "lose" 10.

Remaps generally improve the flatspot/low end power (not by much) and give you a bit more power in the upper range (in combination with a slightly increased redline).

Unless your car drivers horribly, which it sounds like it doesn't, it may be worth just saving the cash or spending it on something else. More so if you plan on doing any future engine/exhaust mods.
