If Porsche made a hot hatch

Hi mate - welcome along!

I’m like you having been bitten by the Clio bug after lots of high powered RWD German fun!

I still have a few of them:8B6CD07C-80A3-4B4B-A7AB-1833F25F4A6B.jpeg

But it’s the little Clio that has my heart at the moment!

(Although M5 touring has just sold and currently looking for the right Z3Mcoupe to replace it!)

Lowering the seat will make a massive difference - standard is almost comically high!

Then you can start enjoying it! 04383F7C-A924-496F-B63E-C1631B13DC03.jpeg

Loving that pic !! There is something about German cars isn’t there ?! ... but the plucky little french numbers are cracking to drive !

Yes akro ..... how loud are they ? Need to be able to meet track day regs . As much as I’d like one ( did actually send a message to the one being sold on here , as was only 40 minutes away from me , but sold ) they are bloody expensive! Are they worth the premium?

Yes. Yes they are. Do it do it do it

I’ve had comments on all three track days (which it’s had no problems passing sound checks) I’ve taken the Clio on so far that it sounds mental.

Mine has a pop and crackle map as well as no cats so lots of bangs and pops on the overrun and limiter!

It is load but I love it. Sounds like a rally car from inside.

As for price - it is a real quality price of work and if like me you’ve come from the world of M-tax and Porsche it’s not a lot is it!!!!

Where about are you?

I’m in Southampton..... I guess I’ll have to add that to the list then

Want to get the Coilovers first and fit the seat rail when it comes ... as you say I’m sure that will make a huge different !!

Yes M / Porsche tax ..... like £750 to change my black seat belts to red !! Ouch!

The ‘relative’ cheapness of parts has been the best bit about the Clio for me so far (other than the way it drives)

I have Kw V3 in order at the moment so looking forward to them arriving

Awesome introduction. Loving this thread already:smile:

Great selection of cars, that S2k seems tastefully modified, the new owner got a nice car!

Ah cheers dude .... always like to give some context of who it is your reading about !

Yes I’m still in contact with the people that bought my S2k , supercharged 350z, Pirelli edition golf , and a few of the others . The S2k was as good as they get and the new owners is mega happy with it . Meeting up soon for a drive

V3’s .... very nice ! Have a few friends who run them ( e46 m3 / charged 370z / Z4m ) great suspension kits ... more track focused than the Bilstein’s thats for sure . I’m after something that’s almost fit and
Forget ... set the ride height and enjoy . I’m sure I’ll be wanting something a bit stuffed / adjustable in track but only plan on 3 days a year at the track , so road compliance is higher than out and out track work .

That’s how it started for me with the Clio............

The B14s come highly recommended by a lot of people but I’ve just always fancied fitting v3s to something and never got round to it before!

the cayman....got it from harbour cars???

I did test drive a cayman and 911 from there ....

I was actually in contact from a private seller about his car ... made arrangements to view and harbour cars beat me to it ! I know what he sold it for and a week later they had it up for 6k more :worried: .... asked if they could do a bit in the price considering I new what they paid for it and they offered 1k off . Appreciate they are a business but couldnt do it .

My one was bought private but still with 6 months Porsche approved warranty on it . When it was due I just had the 111 point inspection done and paid for another 2 years warranty . I wouldn’t want to run one with out their warranty to be honest!

Glad I did end up getting my one though ... has a mega spec to the tune of 14k’s worth of optional extras!!

Like me with the ohlins .... always fancied them and I’ve had 3 sets now ! I’ve had loads of Bilstein’s though over the years and price / performance I’m not sure they can be beaten

Well I’m only in Reading up the M3 if you fancy a drive early one morning

Me and a mate quite often venture into the South Downs for a hoon

This was my Dad and I, half way through an early morning drive, having breakie overlooking the Solent at Portsmouth the other day:

Love it ... I’m all about that early 6 am drive when the weathers good !! Best time to get out with hardly any traffic ! Send me a message when you’re next out

Welcome! Great start to this!

Also based in Southampton/New forest area! I've an RB 197, but there's plenty of us about that try to get together from time to time for photos and a drive out etc hahaha!

Welcome along looks like you’ve had a great selection of cars. +1 for the Akra exhaust if you’re interested in one, I’m really pleased with mine. Sensible for normal road use, easily passes track day noise tests and pops and bangs for fun when you’re on it.

Making the most of the soft top today but gave the Clio a bit more love . Spent a bit of time giving the wheels a good polish , panel wipe down and then a coat of gtechniq wheel armour ..... also checked the scuttle drains .. all clear and flowing well . I’ll need to buy a wiper arm puller though as I couldn’t get them off !
