My LY 200

I didn’t spoil the day by any means, just took a bit of the shine off I suppose. I still enjoyed it but I think it was probably the worst track day I’ve done having to constantly be checking behind and there was also a fair few red flags when the marshall’s had to dig Caterhams and Cup Racers out of barriers. The C1’s were well behaved actually it was the Caterhams drivers who were the ones being naughty. I had a mate there having a drive of my car and they were hassling him a fair bit into corners, almost diving up the inside at times and there was also a couple of overtakes on corners! Should have really reported them straight away but they seemed to calm down a bit after a while.
You really should report them because, while I know certain people will say "No one died" but without the feedback no one gets pulled up and then that style of driving starts to become the norm. Eventually there will be incidents and people like MSV will then put in regulations for those that can't regulate themselves like having specific, marked, overtaking zones.

I was driving a customers car at Donington on Wednesday in a queue of traffic in to Craners and the Old Hairpin. I saw Caterham man coming so I put the LH indicator on because, firstly there are another 6 cars ahead also waiting to overtake the slower car and secondly I want the left Apex of Craners. Still just puts their car right up the inside. I had seen it coming, no one died. Others may not have seen him, I had him black flagged and had a word.
Here is another video from the same day. I don't know this gentleman but he has a fast car and controls it well. It is not the only video of it making questionable overtakes. The title and comments however only ever seem to see fault with the other cars on circuit at the same time.

You’re right I suppose, I was almost going to but then they all seemed to calm down, maybe somebody else did or they remembered they weren’t racing.

That’s a very silly overtake really, very lucky that the pickup didn’t use the full track or understeer into the camera car. Unfortunately he’ll eventually get caught out and by the looks of that video some innocent person will end up with a damaged car or worse.

Typical ricer unfortunately, saw it at Spa with gtr owners who have an unwavering sense of entitlement. I think the average age of the comments section in that video must be about 12 years old, people who think Fast and Furious was a documentary and have zero interest in driving standards. Unfortunately it's getting harder to find a track day where this kind of idiot isn't.

Watch the above video
Overtakes the double cab pickup on the outside!!!
yeah i watched it mate, thats the quickest supra around the ring.

may i add in his description it mentions he thought he saw the guy indicate by then it was too late.
he said it was his fault. Top bloke and top driver. These things happen.

Not much to update other than I eventually motivated myself to figure out why the radio reception became suddenly abysmal one day. Took the antenna off to find huge amounts of corrosion both underneath and on the circuit board. Tried cleaning it up as best as I could but it hasn’t improved much so a new one has been ordered.

This is the clio that makes me want to save a little bit extra for an LY example. :thumb:

Thanks mate.

The part of that sharks fin one that goes through the roof looks similar but my antenna base only has the one coax connector on so I don’t know if this would work even if it physically fitted. At a guess it might, maybe ones for the radio and ones for the gps signal???

I’ve made a little more progress today. Freshly re-trimmed wheel and gear gaiter fitted and I’m really pleased with them. I made a custom request with the wheel to ensure that the rim diameter didn’t increase as every one I’ve seen looked bigger than oem, so the old leather was totally removed before re-trimming.

Even with some help from the how to guide for removing the wheel the airbag was a nightmare to remove.

Looking good, I had a plug made for the roof which helped as I wanted to do the internal unit but I changed my mind on the audio setup and went back to standard, to be honest I wish i hadn't as its much better without it IMHO.

Ah I forgot to update that. I ended up just getting an oem one and fitting that but after taking it apart and actually sealing it to the elements rather than relying on a flimsy rubber gasket.
