Hi guys, Looking at buying my first 197, Iv had multiple 182's and even a 172 i converted into a van (flamer van)

The only things im THAT fussed about it having are 1, Being ultra red and 2, Having air con/Climate control, Now correct me if im wrong, Is that just a standard 197? Iv read the buying guide, Im looking for the equivalent of a 182FF but in 197

Any advise would be great,

Thanks

They is a red one for sell on the 197/200r Facebook forum at min.
I think they all come with air con I think it's only some of the cups that dont. (could be wrong tho )

All 197s had aircon as standard, apart from the CUP models. I'd try and opt for one with the digital climate controls as they look a little nicer than the manual ones.

Ok great, Im not too fussed about the recaro's but if can get one with them then great, Do they all come with xenons?

I'm afraid Xenons were an optional extra. There are 3 types of headlights which are standard reflectors (easy to notice as the inside of the headlights are all silver), projector headlights (have black inserts inside the headlight but no headlight washers) and Xenons (same as the projectors but with headlamp washers). It's easy to retrofit projector headlights however.

Do R27's come with everything?

Thanks
Nope, Xenons, digital climate control, folding mirrors etc were still optional extras on the R27s. You also couldn't spec a R27 with a panoramic sunroof. I'd personally advise against a R27 as they're just a normal 197 with some stickers and different suspension (which can be retrofitted) as they usually seem to be much higher priced than their normal counterparts.

Ok, Standard 197 it is, Look like you can get a half decent one for under 4k these days! Madness!!

It really is a buyers market for these at the moment! There was one on ebay which had a gearbox refurb and cambelt done, and was listed at £2500 or thereabouts which is a bargain.

They are really cheap! I wanted a full fat one and picked my 07 plate up with 109k for £3k 2 years ago. Bodywork is a bit shabby but I wanted Recaro's, xenons, climate control (looks nicer and has no issues unlike the standard manual controls that suffer from final stage resistor failure) and the toys. If I was buying again Id have a Silverstone but you specifically want Ultra Red.

Essentially there are 3 forms they came in: Cup which is basic and stripped out, no aircon and all extras have to be specified and added. Full Fat which come with aircon, things like xenons and Recaros were optional extras, standard sports suspension. Then Full Fat with Cup pack, same as above but with stiffer shocks, thicker ARB and red Brembos.

Add in the R27/F1 edition (500, mixed colours, mixed specs but as standard come with Cup pack) Gordini, Silverstone and Raider.

Mate this is a full on buyers market (sad to say) as doubt I could sell my 200 for anything worth selling it for now days, half the reason I still have it after 4 years, even tho the maintenance costs is well last boring now.

Good cars on song, crap other times (crap roads) horrific when keeps needing stuff, then again I am not handy with a spanner.

Last note... it is a great car, just saying some experience I have with it

Probably going to be selling mine in a couple of weeks as I need to get a Vito Dueliner. It is a reluctant sale but i need to be a lot more practical with model car racing with the kids and the Clio is way too small.
Its an Albi blue 197, 132k miles, 11 months mot, recaros, climate, xenons etc, very good condition. I had it remapped at efi parts, its totally standard engine and exhaust wise, recent oil and filters and plugs service by me. Only things from standard are stud conversion, drilled discs and uprated pads
