Gearbox oil change

Hi, I have a clio 197 F1 R27 and I’m looking to replace the gearbox oil, I can see the plug to remove to drain the oil but I’m struggling to find where to put fresh oil in. Someone mentioned to remove a wing but at the front of the box but I just can’t see anything that would look like it’s where the oil would go. Any help / pictures would be really appreciated.

Hello mate

If it's the same at the 197 cup box, take the nearside front wheel off and you will be able to see the filler plug, mine was a white plug so quite easy to see, hope this helps

It does mate, if you have hands and arms larger than a 10 year old then it can be alittle awkward but yes it does just scree off, lefty loosy, right tighty and all that

Hhhhmmm I'm no guru on oils that's for sure, but when I did mine the other week, after alittle searching around I went for some Fuchs Titan stuff, but have also been told Redline and Elf do good box oils, and I've also been told even just to try some 10w40 but that one I really don't know about haha

even cold my box shifts pretty smooth. can't really tell if i'm lucky with the gearbox or if it's because of the oil.

Redline for sure. I had two gearbox oil changes where the Elf stuff was used, then for the third I went with Redline.

It may be twice the price, but it's twice as good IMO and holds up much better between oil changes.

Do you have a link for the right stuff bud ? May give it a try myself

Agreed.

Anything else is accepting second best from my experience of quite a few oils in these boxes....

I had this oil in my gearbox for a year, hated it. Did not like hot weather and hard driving, and I found the gearbox was much notchier than when I ran the stock Elf stuff.

Yes mate exactly that, found it on a search from this forum funnily enough but it was some years ago now, I'm definitely going to try the Redline stuff
