197 Cup F4RT track car

Interested in the AirTec radiator. Is it designed for a Clio or just a generic one that you’ll custom fit?

It’s specific for Clio’s with megane engines. The rad they say is based around megane rad so needs some trimming to the plastic slam panel.
It’s not as tall as a megane radiator though as I had tried to fit one of these but seemed too big. If you have clio pipework like me then I think one pipe needs rotating up but I’ll let you know when I fit on Saturday.

A cage has been high on the parts list and I’ve now placed an order for a SW Motorsport cage purchased through Supreme Motorsport. They were very quick with their responses and was patient, as I asked a lot of questions trying to make sure it’s the cage I wanted. Hoping for it to be ready in the coming weekends.

Some other updates:

I have a new seat again...

From what i've seen the SW Motorsport cages are a good option. Certainly something i would have considered if they were available this time last year before i bought my Safety Devices. As for the new seat, that's out of this world!

Some photos of the fit and cutting would be very helpful to see mate. Think I might get one of these radiators myself.

That rad looks very nice! Did it come with the fans etc?

Would also like to know how fitting goes with it.

Sorry for not getting back on here sooner but worked a few Saturdays at work meaning I didn’t have much chance to get on to fitting the new rad.

So I had hoped for a straight simple rad figment however it seems this is not the case if you have the Airtec intercooler. This is a bit of a pain as it meant grinding off the bottom mount from my new and expensive rad so as it can hopefully be welded on in reverse.

For now I have fitted the radiator with only the top mounts as I nearly put a hole in my intercooler forgetting I had to grind off my lower rad mount before, with my old rad this wasn’t an issue as I simply drilled a hole in the front cross member and then mounted the rubber into this hole, but with this rad that can’t be done as it’s much taller and would sit too far back due to the design.

It is very well made but I’d guess the Airtec intercooler is smaller than mine meaning the lower mount does not get in the way.

The front plastic cowl does need some trimming but not much see below.

If you have the same intercooler as me you will have had to trim slightly for pipes anyway.
I also had to lengthen my oil cooler pipes so these are now black and I will need to alter one pipe to a straight fitting not the 90

One of the expansion pipes needs to be a thicker item to suit the radiator so I will need to order some larger pipe.

So it’s not a simple fit but it isn’t impossible just needs some thinking.

What intercooler are you running?
Didn't Chris at Efi map it for you?
Any issue's wit the charge temps?

It’s the SC auto one I think. Chris said it was working well when he mapped it so I’ve never changed it

I did buy a Mishimoto one at one point but it was a lot thinner and slightly shorter than this one so thought I’d just stick with it.

I’ve ordered a Megane radiator and fan along with an Airtec intercooler so will swap it over this month. I do like the rad you’ve bought mind.

One thing with the megane rad is all of the plastic pretty much has to be cut away, my first effort was quite messy so I’m on my second plastic scuttle now. I rushed the first one though so was my own error really

This is mine with the megane radiator but was a very tall rad and was worried it would rub under on/off throttle

Great thread, just subscribed. If you don't mind me asking where did you get the subframe with sliders for the Recaro SPG?

They were made by madeno racing I believe they did a lot of cup racer parts but I bought them from a member on here.

Thanks very much! Tempted to get a set of SPGs (or Pole Position) to replace the factory Recaros but to pass NCT (MOT equivalent) here in Ireland they need to be adjustable/on sliders.

No probs mate. To run SPG’s these will work straight off but the pole positions are wider so need so alterations.

I think if you’re not running harnesses then the easiest way would be some OMP mounts with two sliders under or on top of the seat base. Similar to above. These are only good due to me not needing to weld mounts into the floor for the four mounts for 5/6 point harnesses

Had a good day on the clio today,

Radiator is now completed and bled, all pipes now routed with no kinks which is reassuring. I’ve tried to look at every bend to make sure it flows well and the system remains reliable.

Also fitted my passenger seat as I’d been lazy with this before but will need to come out again when the cage arrives

So all that’s left now is to get the adjustment made to the exhaust as the front pipe to the down-pipe has a flange that is 2.75 which is annoying

Will hopefully get this altered next weekend.
