Clio RS200 Racing Blue - South East New Member

Hi All,

New member and first time post, I recently collected my very first Renault last weekend.. Clio RS200 in Racing Blue. It's the CUP model, although.. it's only just come to my attention that there's the FF model - I wouldn't have minded the extra's (cruise control, climate control, colour matched parts etc). Is what it is, it's as raw as the model gets.

First drive was interesting, coming from a turbo'd car I'm still adjusting to the VVT power delivery. The handling is very confidence inspiring and the car wants to be revved to redline everywhere! So far so good, the interior is a little dull and outdated but seems do-able.

I've got a lot planned for the Clio from mechanical, to subtle touches and a few modifications.

It's currently in for a wheel refurbish, gloss black, new centre caps, bolts and ceramic coating so this is the beginning.

Welcome in. Yeah Cups might be a bit basic, but they're a hoot to drive! Good colour too RB. Look forward to watching the mods evolve. Maybe start a progress thread.

Thank you Johnny, look forward to getting involved with the community. To be honest, I probably would've opted for the FF with CUP Pack if had known beforehand, but... at least I've got the most RAW version.

Just out of curiosity, do you know EXACTLY what extra's you get with the CUP specific model? So far I've only spotted the Brembo 4 pots.

Welcome aboard... nice to see another RB cup

Look forward to see what you have install

Thanks Beany! I see you've got one too?

I've got quite an extensive list of cosmetics/refurbishment which I kind of underestimated (wheel refurb, caliper refurb, various resprays of bodywork) to sort out first of all. Then the mods can begin, I've got a spreadsheet with every little detail I want to add... I'll just need to sit patiently until I have the spare pennies.

In the meantime, you can follow EvoClioRS on Instagram. I'll start a build/progression thread too!

Yea I do mate.. I’ve got a progress thread here which isn’t much but gives you an idea...

With the CUP it’s not about what’s extra is what they’ve taken away

Negatives:
No air con
Basic interior
No front fogs
No cornering lights
Projector headlights

I just gave it a scroll through, looking good dude!

That's sounds pretty accurate to my model, not sure on 'cornering lights' however I DEFINITELY have Aircon! Um...

A few other things I've noticed... I've got speed lines as oppose to the Anthracite CUP wheels.
Finally, is the spoiler standard? I can see sealant on my rear spoiler (looks like it's been stuck on).

Cheers!

Lucky or unlucky few then.. aircon was an optional choice for the ‘cup’ it was never listed as having it
The same with the alloys & spoiler the anthracite cups were standard however there was an option for black speedlines ..
it could’ve been that the previous owner added these.. if the spoiler isn’t bolted to the boot lid then it’s been added afterwards..

I feel blessed. CUP model w/ Aircon - it's the little things!

Ah, I suspect the Black Speedlines have been added as an extra.

Not sure on the spoiler, there's orange peel in the paint (looks like it's been poorly sprayed) and there's black sealant securing it to the roof. I'll check to see if it's bolted, did the CUP not have a spoiler by standard?

Cup is pretty much as @Beany said. The actual brake callipers are the same on both cup & non cup, but Cup & Cup pack were painted red. A lot of non Cups have had the callipers painted red by owners though. You also get lowered, firmer suspension & a quicker steering rack.

Thanks for the info Johnny.

Yep, I've definitely got the CUP model with the addition of Speedlines and Aircon!

On the note of brakes, my initial bite is awful.. I can't get any brake in the first 10% or so of the pedal and then it bites but it's full on - not ideal for smooth breaking. I have a feeling there's an issue with the brake lines, fluid, pads or discs.

Pads can seize in the caliper. Give them a strip down and thorough clean.

As others have said speedlines have probably been sourced by a precious owner and air conditioning was a factory option on the cups. Does the air con work as the condensers seem to attract stones and get holes in them.
