Front end play

I’m going to jack the car up today and have a proper look but I thought I’d post this up in case anyone recognises the symptoms.

There appears to be some play in either my steering rack or a bush or joint somewhere. It only occurs on faster left hand turns around 70mph and above (long sweeping left handers are where it’s generally most noticeable). I don’t have any knocks so I’m not sure it’s related to the usual steering rack issues.

Basically as I’m slowly turning the steering to the left, the car will suddenly dart to the left and turn in harder, as if something’s slipped. When I straighten up the steering, the car rocks/shuffles from side to side a bit like it’s righting itself or as if something’s slipped back into position.

I’m thinking maybe steering rack bush, UJ or track rod ends? Looking at the design of the inner joints I can’t see how it’d be them. It never happens on right hand turns which is strange.

I’ve recently had new coilovers so it’s not suspension related. Swivel joints are also fine, one was recently replaced and it’s had new anti rotating links recently too. I originally thought it might be the back end but everything’s tight and the wheels are straight. Everything aligns fine as well.

Any ideas? I’m hoping it’s something simple as the car drives like shit I’ve already chucked a load of money at it recently :worried:

Thanks

So it turns out the osf swivel isn’t fine, it’s got loads of play in it! Getting it replaced on tues which will hopefully solve the issue
