Clio RS 200 Cup - déjà vu

Hello from Oxfordshire.

Purchased from a forum member, some 12-months ago, and only just got around to first newbie post...

And, yes - you have seen this car before - belonging to kevlar who did much work to it.

It has spent most of the last 12-months in the garage. Coming out only in dry weather when I have had free time to take it a drive. But I have some plans for it since visiting Sean at Jade Developments (thanks to ///M's build thread). :thumb:

Some pics. Apologies if they don't work first time. I am trying to cut-and-paste links to my Dropbox...

(Still working on having the pics appear in the post. Sorry for the links above...)

Car is going to go Sean at Jade Developments. I popped in last week and Sean could not have been more helpful. No hard sell just loads of good advice.

Plan is:

Bilstein B14s - I think similar to ///M's setup
New top mounts
Ferodo pads
Braided hoses
(may) go for the full roll-cage rather than existing 3/4 quarter
Towing eye strap
some other stuff that I have forgotten

Then off to Castle Combe for advanced track day training. I have already done their first one, not in the Clio, but one of their Fiesta's! Loads of fun and learnt loads!
The 2 instructors let me have plenty of track time as the only other cars on track were Caterham Academy race cars doing testing - they were really quick!

Welcome along. I’m interested in hearing your thoughts on the custom B14’s, I almost went along this route too.

re:B14s. Sure will although I am trusting Sean with the setup. He has so much knowledge from the Clio Cup Racers he prepares and his own racing. Spent time at his Garage last week. Was convinced after he explained all the options. Not pushy at all just good advice. Plan is for; B14s + Top Mounts, Setup with Clio Cup Racer (8J) wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2, Ferodo pads plus some other stuff that I've forgotten to mention... ;o)

Just a little update. Took the car in for a Service/ MoT. Service was fine and coolant leak was some hard to get to jubilee clip.
Unfortunately MoT fail as the front nearside spring had snapped. No real drama as car going to Jade Developments for the new shock/ suspension etc.
What did surprise me was the price, for supply and fitting, was ... £407.93. Yikes! :openmouth:

Welcome to the forum! Hope you're enjoying the car - good to see a great example back on the site!

Sadly it’s quite labour intensive and requires dropping the subframe etc to get to the front end.. mine was equally as expensive when I had to replace the front shocks

Thanks Beany, Pav and Jimmy. That’s a lot of work. I realised my post was a little confusing. Renault Sport Oxford dealership was £407 plus VAT. Sean at Jade Developments reckons £150’ish.

Car is being trailered to Jade Developments after Xmas. Looking forward to Bilstein’s and top mounts etc

My old car glad she is still in your hands im sure she is being well loved, sad to hear about the MOT fail, but onward and upwards to better things.

Cars a credit to you. Springs etc will be replaced by Sean at Jade and then MOT’d after all the build work.
Talked with him yesterday. It’s the Bilstein B14 “specials” or perhaps AST5x00s.[emoji106]
TBH - my track day skill level means that I would not get the most from 2-way adjustable anytime soon.

Car all set to go by covered transport tomorrow.

New Cup Racer Speedlines shod with PS2’s in the boot ready for fitting:

Looking superb - cant wait to see the upgrades fitted

So Clio is at Jade Development waiting for Bilsteins, to Jade spec, to be built and shipped from Germany.

In the meantime found this while looking for something to trailer it to Track Days:

Obviously now also looking for a trailer. I’ve been told that Brian James “Road Sport” is good. But welcome feedback and suggestions.[emoji106]
