R27 WTF progress blog

Did a s3 shell for someone a few years back, trouble is values on s3 we have one sitting at work. Manual too! Just restoration cost is what you can buy one for all done.

Ok if your doing yourself.

Doing this at the moment. Started it on the 14th of Feb.

Bit of an update

Well it’s been a hectic week getting that car ready for the spa trip and various things going wrong potentially ending my hopes of going to spa ( Dog chewing my passport being one!)

So got all the car back together after the underside rebuild all new brake lines which is abs delete with tilton bias valve, new clutch line and pretty much every new bush drop link etc.

Took the car for mot and flew through which was a good start!
On the way home from the mot the car started to get a noise from the gearbox sounds like a clutch release bearing as the sound goes when the clutch is pressed. The noise is only when the gearbox is underload ie not When Idling.

I dropped the gearbox oil and no obvious metal in it so still not sure what the noise is.

I then decided to get a new clutch and Slave from rpd, while the gearbox was out I thought I’d put a gripper diff in be rude not to seeing as it’s got to come out for the clutch.

So I booked the car into Beanie sport who managed to get me booked in for tomorrow which is amazing!

I had booked onto pembrey a few weeks ago as it’s local and I thought would be best to test the car before heading to Germany and give me some seat time in the car.

The day went well with no issues and got the asts all set where I was happy and got the car handling where I wanted it and by the end of the day managed to knock off 5 seconds off my lap time!

Any way il here’s some pics and s short clip from pembrey still need to go through the footage and will up date more about the day later!

Got to get up at 3 to head to beanie sport so if anyone’s local feel free to pop down!

Long post I know also forgot to add I had some livery that I’m still not sure about but will see if it stays or goes

Can’t seem to upload a video from the Tapatalk app [emoji848]

Not 100% on the livery, but it looks great on that wheel/suspension set-up.

I thought it looked spot on in the pics before the livery.

I'm not sure on it but It's your car!

Hope it all goes to plan.

Well it’s been awhile since Iv been on here so here’s abit of an update.

When I got back from spa I was pretty deflated as I couldn’t fully enjoy the day due to the car just locking up etc (down to poor driving and slippery conditions) and my clutch giving up and not being able to select any gears.

When I got home I removed the livery as I wasn’t 100% on it after the trip and I’m liking the blacked out look atm. I then set about dropping the gearbox to see what was going on. Turned out the pressure plate bolts had come lose (garage who fitted the new clutch and gripper didn’t use lock tight) while it was off I decided to fit a new slave and clutch just incase.

The car was then working as it should and all seemed good so got around to a few jobs like hard wire the go pro in fit a few USB ports and my carbon footrests etc

Next up was snetterton with some
Of the lads who went to spa.

I finally got a chance to drive the car properly in the dry. I really enjoyed snetterton and would defiantly go back.

The car just worked how I wanted it to few suspension adjustments to get rid of some of the understeer which defiantly helped but found with the heat of the track the tyres would just wash out.

Here’s a few pics with @rupes 1cb50803a97b9d88c3ccb764b8e0ba06.jpg 61eac116b5d73bdf1423850382c63206.jpg13ecfa7909402e916b27e5c83066d53a.jpg

After snetterton and going out with James and his beast of a meg i decided I needed more power. I didn’t want to do what everyone else has done and go with a meg engine, I decided I wanted to go with a rotrex supercharger.

I got a friend to 3D Print me one to use for mock up 4e32d8c2e76a0478ec66ad4761152208.jpg

I’m wanting to be abit different to the other supercharged Clio’s so making my bracket slightly different to the rest. I’m now waiting on my friend to 3D print my bracket to make sure all is good.

Since snetterton Iv had my inlets ported and gas flowed and my throttle body ported and gas flowed.
When I took the inlets off I noticed my top loom was damaged so I replaced the 2 damaged cables and re wrapped the loom

Pretty big update will try to keep it on track going forward.

This brings me up to this week on Tuesday I loaded up and headed down to Anglesey ready for a track day on the Wednesday.15b1d6636a2b13696276bb37d1096603.jpg
Typical garage photo from Anglesey 93b555cd534b35cadfc0cf8571be28f1.jpg

First session was the international track and i thought I was doing pretty well with my lines etc but did find the car was understeering a lot and the tyres washing out. So I stiffened the rear suspension and let the fronts down slightly along with upping the pressures in the rear tyres this helped a lot but again the ad08r tyres just weren’t up to the job.

In the afternoon the circuit changed to the coastal layout with the corkscrew (love this section of the track) I also had my tuition and this is when I realised how wrong some of my lines were the instructor was brilliant and really helped and I managed to knock off almost 5 seconds a lap from just being on the correct lines.

Overall Iv got plenty of time to find still and can’t wait to go back in August.

Gutted my go pro didn’t seem to record anything from the day other than 1m of footage.

So here’s a few pics from Rob Baxter

Soon as I got home I ordered 2 sets of slicks to try Dunlop’s and Pirelli’s d9edb49172346721d9a0050d3a7cc811.jpg

Next event is llandow on august the 4th

Looking forward to seeing you again at Llandow Matt. May have to blag a passenger ride if there's one going?

That’s a good write up Matt, loving how the cars looking and plenty of tyres options
Shame you can’t make snetterton this time around but I’m sure they’ll be chances to see this in the future

Nice update there Matt. Just spent a while reading through it all and catching up. Look forward to seeing this out on track again with the faults ironed out.

Managed to get the car onto axel stands and give everything a check all bolts etc

All seems good nothing lose etc

Have got a slight leek from my passenger side cv boot (only changed the drivers side last week) so cleaned that up but will need sorting before llandow on the 4th of August

Gave all the arches a clean and a top up of trim restorer.

Also got another coat of ceramic wax on the wheels and the car it’s self
