Holidays 2018..............

Been back a couples of weeks now, after a 2 week holiday in Florida! A truly awesome holiday and an itch that had to be scratched after loving it 10 years ago!

One of the most tiring holidays I’ve ever endured but oh so worth it for the experiences it offers, and the valuable time to spend with my girlfriend and parents (yes for the record we had separate rooms!!)

The theme parks are fantastic, of which the 4D experience rides have really taken off, which my parents love as they’re not too keen on the idea of being thrown upside down on massive rollercoasters! We were easy covering 20,000+ steps each day, which gives a scale on how vast the size of the parks are, and how much there is to see!

The weather was around 30 degrees and humid which is expected in May. This caused a fair amount of showers but is was somewhat refreshing and certainly doesn’t stop your daily activities!

The car we had was a Chevrolet Impala, 300+ bhp V6 which sounded awesome, but soon learned you can’t drive it like a Clio round corners (where you could find a corner in America...)

Both a positive and a negative would be the food! The quality of the food is faultless, probably some of the best steaks i’ve ever experienced, however after 2 weeks of pizza / burgers / steaks, i was soon pining for a Sunday lunch and a bit of gravy!

Would recommend it as a holiday to anyone, especially families! It took a good year of saving up albeit, as both the flights / park tickets are quite expensive! There is so much to do in Orlando, that you need two weeks! I’d have loved to have visited NASA/Cape Canaveral as that was a highlight of when I visited last, but just didn’t have time to squeeze it all in!

I’ve been away for the forum for a few weeks, and poor @Beany reached out after fearing I’d been eaten by an alligator! But I am still alive and kicking! P.S my tapatalk seems to send notifications but errors, so the fact that’s not working has contributed as it’s what I normally use!! Hoping you’re all well, i’ll be catching up with the project threads this week as I’m sure there’s plenty to catch up on!

Here’s a random selection of photos, enjoy!

Glad you’ve had a good time and not been eaten alive

Nice pics @sevenfourate

We have flights scheduled for august. It is my first time there. Never been in USA.
I booked hotel near wall street. We have plans to go central park, chinatown, empire state building and little italy etc..

You're going to love NYC Antti. Genuine big city bright lights. Everything is a spectacle. It's like being in a movie set most of the time. The whole city is a trip.

@RossWoods93 great write up mate.

Agree about the food. Everything is tasty and superbly presented and affordable but my god I always enjoy some home food when I get back.

Clear you had a really great time. It's just a mad place isn't it? The whole thing feels like a theme park to me. Disagree about the roads though. There are some absolutely wonderful roads in America, just depends where you are. I've had some bloody amazing driving all over America.

I'm loving this thread. Getting to live vicariously for a bit while waiting for our next trip.

Didn’t get the opportunity to venture off international drive really apart from a 2 hour drive to bush gardens... which is also very straight! Route 66 in a Mustang may tempt me though!

A mad holiday, but certainly one I loved! Just need a holiday to recover from the holiday now!

ALWAYS come back from America feeling like I need some time off!

There are great roads all over America. North of NY up through to VT is amazing. OR is wonderful too. But the best roads in America are in the Californian mountains. They're utterly ridiculous. Mega views, wide, loads of great corners. I've done the Alps and America is better. I hear parts of Spain and Portugal are really good too. Everyone bangs on about how great the Alps are, and yeah, it IS bloody good, but the roads are mostly accelerate, hairpin, accelerate, hairpin etc. My point is, if ever you fancied a driving holiday like that, California mountains, hands down in my experience. The roads are loads better and in better condition. Weather is guaranteed amazing. Food and booze are outstanding. Locals just love you for being English. Best thing is, if you get caught speeding, like pretty naughty speeding, chances are you're getting a slap on the wrist. Not a £1000 fine on the spot. Ask me how I know...

Done it a few times with the V8 5ltr GT Mustang. It's. Just. Bloody. Brilliant.

Fuck I wanna go driving in America now!

Im off in my camper to fish a five day fishing festival, kinda done like a league with points scored each day

Just finished work today and no I have ten days off hopefully it will stay nice for me and the sun will shine!

It’s not Disney land and it’s at lindholme lakes up near sunny scunny so not exactly exotic either we have a few local boozers, 55 lads and a couple of local Indians to go at, oh and kebab shops a plenty even in the middle of nowhere in flattest earth Lincolnshire!

Just booked an apartment on the island of Brac, Croatia for July.

Never been to the country. Heard good things. Our 2 kids coming as well so looking forward to some family fun time:sunglasses:

Very nice Ben. I’ve looked at Croatia before - and we will make it sometime. Some of the scenery looks stunning. I’m sure it will be a fab family orientated location. I’d love to hear your thoughts on your return.....

I learned to swim on a family holiday in Croatia in 1967 when it was still part of Yugoslavia! Only a foot difference between high & low tide. As a six year old I wouldn't trust my dad to teach me but I would swim out to a German tourist who spoke no English & was happy to go out of my depth when he was around. Just don't step on a sea urchin Ben as they have lots of spines. Very sore & there are plenty of them. Water is beautifully clear and warm. Enjoy!

I hope Micah and his Tourism advisors are wrong about Dubai :tearsofjoy:

Either way we’re committed. Both me and my wife would rather visit somewhere new and not fully feel it; than revisit somewhere at this point....

Do you book your whole trip through BA or just the flights Syer?

Where abouts man?!

I’ve just got back from 4 days sailing with some mates in Croatia.
Split to Hvar and around the islands [emoji1305]
Awesome place and the sea is incredible!

My word that is the dream. Sailing round the Adriatic coast. Is the boat one of your mates?

Three trips shown are all ‘Flights and Hotel’. You can add hotel transfers too if you wish.

They are pretty competitive price-wise and also have two sales a year (June and Jan usually) where you can sometimes get a right bargain.

Why’s that bud ?

Always been meaning to ask you to be fair! Only ever booked anything through TUI and I've seen a few really decent city breaks come up on BA. Just fancy getting away for a few days on my own I think!

Price you see the price you pay?

Well this threads gone quiet - going to Amsterdam for a couple of nights with the Mrs and a couple we know next weekend. Anybody got any must see’s / do’s (aside from the obvious [emoji513])??

Tomorrow will be my first trip to USA.

New York
Annapolis
Washington
Philadelphia
New Jersey..

Really i dont know how it goes. Never been in USA.
Europe is so peace of cake to travel.

Unfortunately we have to change plane in Arlanda and in return trip Oslo. (Norwegian cheap flights).
Plane is 787-9 dreamliner.
