Looking to buy this 197 (non runner)

Came across this car for sale. It's a non runner and was wondering if anyone recognises it? Very little information regarding it's history, would like to know more.

Has a strange weird front end and so very distinctive.

This is also my first post so idk if I'm allowed to post here.

Sorry - cant help you with an ident on the car. Why isn't it supposedly working ?

I asked the seller and the reply was "It just judders". The debadge job also has me curious tbh. Going to view it later today.

I ended up buying it, checked if it was getting a spark which it wasn't so cleaned the crank sensor and that seemed to fix it. Will be replacing the crank sensor. Exhaust is not standard and has a cone filter on it.

Happy days.

Good luck with the car, I hope it all works out for you. I'm sure the forum will be able to help if you get stuck with anything down the line.

So been working on the car a fair bit this week, the brakes are off at the moment and new seals are on their way.

Regarding the lack of a front badge, I took the bumper off and it turns out one of the previous owners had left the badge and just used fibre filler to mask it. Took a few hours to remove it all, bought a new badge for £20. Just need to get it painted now. Could someone recommend a body shop near Bedford/Northampton please?

I also came across a sensor near the washer fluid tank and a tube coming out the top of the gearbox. Tried to search online but not a lot came up?

Quick update.. Got the bumper fixed and black badged. All calipers repainted and rebuilt. Attempted to refurb the alloys and they turned out great.

Gearbox has a crunch but it's low down the priority list. I'll drive around it until I can get a rebuilt box. The front seats are shit so looking to replace those and retrim the wheel.

Any recommendations regarding the seats and steering wheel would be helpful!

Is it plug for the headlight washer pump?
Here you can see my car which has those washers. Similar connector..

Yes bud, I have recently swapped that tank with a bog standard non xenon one as they are smaller and do not have the second pump for headlight washers. Depends if you want to blank them or keep them, I find them a pain as my headlight washers leak.
