200: Insurance in NI

Insurance is due in 3 days and is looking ot be around £600 (after a quick Go Compare quote)

It seems anyone i contact directly are quoting me nearly £200 more than the Go Compare one which was Hastings Direct and included Break Down cover, Legal assistance etc.

Still need to ring AXA and see if they offer me any cheaper for a renewal.

Question is.... is there anywhere i should be checking for a better deal before i pay up?

cheers

Well to be honest I'm with Hastings the top policy and they beat their own compare quote (actually the premium policy was cheaper than the basic ones) when I rang them direct I guess they did not want the compare site getting a cut. What did you pay last year? and it could be a quick reaction to the new claims due to the current weather. As for the car I can see one salvage company in UK dealing with about 10 Renault sport Clio's a month so it will not be long until the RS Clio's are gone like to Renault 5 turbo's. I think there is supposed to be an insurance company connected to the forum but make sure you have your quotes first before approaching them. Mines not due until May this news isn't filling me with joy at the moment.

Quick update. AXA got back to me and said my renewal would be £630 but he can knock it down to £550 if I stay with them. Then I added on breakdown cover and key cover and he said he could do it all for £575 which isn't as bad as I thought.

Adrian Flux quoted me £940.66 so I think I'll pass on that one. Going to try Greenlight tomorrow.

Renewal isn't actually until 10th April so I've a few weeks to sort it out

Mine is just under £500. I know it went up about £80 when I changed from the Mk5 Golf GTI. My old man is an ex Police man so I insured through Police Mutual which is an outstanding policy but still shop around each year.

If you have any immediate family or you are in the police I would definitely give them a call

Sadly dont know anyone that could get me onto that insurance

Have a month to sort it so ill keep trying. Need the springs declared, adds a few hundred it seems :worried:

Seems like its generally high everywhere now when i put the suspension modification in, a lot wont even insure me now. Brent Acre included :worried:

Like I say one of the salvage company's have at least 10 Clio Renault sports in a month the cars are now in the price range of the driving ability disabled and we are all paying the price. It's the end of the financial year and the recent snow and amount of claims the insurance companies are pushing to get back their losses. I've never seen anything on insurance about lowered suspension I think your bending over when you start to declare mods although I have seen Quinn Direct before they went under look at cars and turn them down for things like alloy wheels even when the car came from the factory with alloys and the ones fitted were the same size and spec as the originals just different styles.
