200: Goodbye Clio.

After 5 1/2 years of RenaultSport ownership and 15 years of Renault ownership I'm out.

I've really enjoyed the 200 and had some great times in it, some great times at meet ups and met some great people here:

Sadly after some large repair bills and a lack of support from Renault over the gearbox syncromesh it's time to leave. Unfortunately I'll be leaving Renault as well and time will tell if I can trust them as a brand any more.

So last week I picked up this little beauty:
(A Fiesta ST3 with Mountune 215 kit in Molten Orange if you're interested)

I'd like to wish you all well and I'll be back here if I ever find myself back in a Renault.

Bye
Adam

Hope you enjoy the new car Adam and hopefully you have a bit more luck with it than you did with the 200. It's a shame you sold it due to those issues, but it's understandable if you've have a bad experience overall.

They are cracking cars and it looks like you had a lot of fun with it, but sometimes you have to move on  hope you still visit the site every now and then.

Just wanted to generally clarify that the first 4 1/2 years have been excellent. Even having to replace the rear hubs/brake discs, the FOS hub and bearing and source the Eibach springs myself (after the originals broke and Renault couldn't find any). The killer for me was the manufacturing defect with the syncromesh and Renaults whole response around it.

If anyone finds USB in the future or wants to buy her, she's an excellent car with only 53k on the clock and one someone will enjoy it. She's due her cambelt change and I'd take a look at the FNS hub and bearing as well. The clutch also has 2-4k miles left on it, but I couldn't let her pass on without sorting the gearbox out (care of Renparts). Apart from that she pretty much enjoyed an oil change every 6 months.

Even if you've reached the end of the rope and you've jumped, from what it seems the Reno served you well, you have memories most petrol heads dream of (Dolomites driving), Tracking in Germany... dude, you've had a nice share of the Clio pie! all the best, Fiesta, nice but everybody's got one.

Can't argue that they're everywhere (which is why I went with Molten Orange), but when you can pick up a brand new ST3 and fit a Mountune kit for £6k less than a 220... well I'm not going to call you mad. But I think I'd want my cerebrum checked over.

Plus Renault would have to give me a gold plated endorsement promising that there's no manufacturing defects! I can see the pigs flying already!!

Jaffa (the Fiesta) has its first North Wales drive this weekend and France in a month or so. Will have to start planning some driving tours with it.

They are quite a common sight the Fiesta ST's but there is a reason for that, they are good to drive and got raved about by most motoring mags when released to the market. Then there's the price, they undercut most other manufactures cars such as the Corsa VXR, Polo GTi, Ibiza Cupra etc.

I'd like to drive one myself to see how they are, I owned a Corsa VXR nurburg for just over a year so be interesting to compare. They have some sort of electronic diff on the ST's don't they? Rather than an all mechanical one?

2nd from last pic.......

Does that say WANK on the floor behind the Clio....... :d

Of course Ford are going to make sure that the Renault sits in the wank bay....

Goodluck with the fiesta, they are popular cars, at least you got it in a distinct colour, only way I can tell if a ST is coming at me is by the badge on the grille lol..

So you fixed it then sold it when it was fixed... :giggle:

You're not advising me that I should of sold on a car with a known mechanical defect and not mentioned it are you?

Besides, I honestly do hope that whoever picks up USB treats it just as well as I have. And I wouldn't of wanted to pass it on any other way.

Tbh i never got connected to any car like i did with my clio 200 and i think its the best hh ever (especially by the modern ones)
But in honesty i cant realy blame you.. Reliability reliability.. Big word
And i assume if you had more of that word in the positive way you wouldnt change it [emoji123]
