'Poppy' GW FF 200

Got myself an early Christmas present on Friday  over the moon and can't wait to fit it next weekend!

Right, the time has finally come to update the thread! A lot has happened to prevent me from updating sooner; work, Christmas, New Year but more significantly Megan was involved in a car accident two days after I fitted the Akrapovic :tongueout:anic: so I was pretty busy leading up to the holidays. She is recovering though and will be as right as rain soon I'm sure

The poor Mini after some :whatever: cut a corner and went onto Megan's side of the road (also shoving her into a wall, hence damage on the passenger side too):

Lots of airbags

The silver lining to it all (there has to be some) is that she got an acceptable cheque for the Mini from the insurance company and a bought a nice new snow covered car

Anyway, I also changed my gearbox oil a while ago and found the pictures of the old stuff that came out.. it's pretty dark and murky compared to the nice clear Redline stuff I replaced it with. Bad news is that it's made pretty much no difference to the way the gearbox feels; it's still notchy (even when warm) and hard to get into 1st when cold.

I also lubed the gear linkage cable (hope I've done the right bit!) which sadly has also made no difference.

Moooving on.. I fitted the Akrapovic at the end of Nov as planned, although embarrassingly it actually took me the WHOLE weekend to fit ;/ And what's more, it doesn't seem to be completely air tight around the last joint (where the cat used to be). I didn't really want to use any exhaust sealant, especially as it's quite an awkward joint to seal, but I may have to try. Unless anyone has any other ideas?

Ready for diffuser to come off:

Finally I got it fitted and it sounds very nice! A lot quieter than I was expecting, I've had to put the rear seats down to hear it properly  Hopefully I will remove them and add an Ultra Racing rear brace at some point. There also aren't as many pops and bangs as the KTEC, which I do miss a bit.

Anyway here is a (very) short sound clip:

Next bit of car fun will hopefully be at Bedford on the 17th if the weather is half decent  Anyone else going?

Sad news about your gf :worried: glad she's on the mend and there was a bit of happiness at the end with a new car.

I much prefer that Akra sound, although quieter, it sounds amazing.

Im im glad your using this car as intended and are back on track in it

Well I ended up booking Bedford on Saturday despite the weather forecast saying it was going to snow/sleet/rain! The weather people don't know what they're on about; although bitterly cold it was a pretty nice day and the sun even came out for a bit

We drove the SEN circuit as parts of the GT circuit are having ground work done on them. Sounds like they are going to change the layout a bit.. should be interesting. Hopefully all will be revealed by spring/summer time.

The SEN circuit was actually really good. Having driven the longer GT circuit once before, I thought it may be a bit too short and possibly lacking as many interesting corners, but it was great fun.

The day went fairly smoothly, began with a couple of people going off and then people seemed to get used to the layout and the temperature etc and there wasn't much drama. Though just before we left to go home the track was red flagged because (I think) a Porsche decided to get up close and personal with a barrier. I had one pretty hair raising moment.. entry into the little chicane after the first straight seemed to make the rear a bit twitchy (ESP off) and so on one lap I decided to turn in a bit sharper to get the rear to step out.. for some reason I hadn't prepared myself for dealing with this so before I knew it I was screeching backwards, wheels locked, towards a tyre barrier! :tongueout:anic: Luckily we did not high five the barrier but we did end up closer than ideal.

Anyway, all in all a brilliant day. So unbelievably impressed with the car as always  I also managed to get some footage this time, edited to include action with some other cars.

Got myself some new wheels too and had them on for the first time on Saturday. No prizes for guessing what they are :tongueout:

Well done buddy! Good vid! Liking this car a lot! Glad it's being used as intended. Keep the updates coming

Currently sat in the sun in the sunshine state of Florida  this is my last day of a two and a bit week holiday and I have been missing the car like crazy! So I have compiled a nice shopping list to order for my return on Thursday! Can't wait to get back behind the wheel of a proper car on proper roads, not a Grand Caravan on a grid!!

Lovely car dude:smile:

Do you have any pics of the car on the new rims (stationary I mean)? Also is it standard ride height? Ta

[Lewis - can't tag you for some reason] Sorry for the late reply with pics. I see you've put your car up for sale but thought this thread was due an update anyway

Firstly a few pics from the Brecons run in May.

And a few from a trackday at Anglesey in September. It was actually my mum's birthday so I got her a passenger lap in a Clio 200 as a present :innocent:

And finally a really short clip from Anglesey. Unfortunately the exhaust sound isn't mine it's the white Integra's. Also apologies for the wind noise - it's Wales.
