Best place for a new gearbox?

Just been chatting to RSC Europe who quoted me £780 for a new shop soiled box. I said about how they used to be £354 but apparently they're now rare boxes.

Tried some guy on eBay for a reconned box for £365 plus £50 posted, he phoned me to say that postage was actually double that and it wasn't really worth his time - so refunded me.

Local tranmission specialist want £958 to recon my box.

As this is quite a common thing (crunching 4th) just wondered what other people have done within the last few months?

I'd prefer not to add £780 onto my £300 clutch kit then another 5 hours labour on top.

You've probably tried it already, but if the issue is just a crunch - gearbox oil change?

Due to the severity of the crunch that's suddenly appeared I felt that it's a bit more than just an oil change needed. I've got two bottles of Fuchs TITAN SINTOFLUID SAE 75W-80 at home so will do this at the weekend before making any rash decisions.

It's more the principle than anything and how stubborn I am. The bloke has the box on eBay for £365 + £50 postage. Said to me he can't post it for less than double that yet he's relisted it exactly the same. Doesn't seem that trustworthy in my opinion.

Funny that - I had a price from RSC a week or so ago at £420 - guess I should have bought it !!!

Apparently they've only got one left in stock. If you've got that a quote you should see if you can buy it! I'll give you £450 if you do

Or just buy one above for £465. As your aware, getting anything down here that's heavy, costs a fortune !

If you have bought something on ebay, you and the seller have entered into a contract, he must keep up his side which is supplying you the gearbox at the price it is listed for. If it is not worth the effort that's his problem. I would have been on the phone telling him that my gearbox would soon arive at the price I'd bought it for.

Just because alonso isn't winning he can't just terminate the contract unless he has an agreement with the team. He's there for as long as the contract says he is there.

I totally agree with Ant on this one. If the seller has decided that he doesn't want to post it to you, he shouldn't have listed it in the first place. You do have rights through eBay. I would contact the seller as Ant suggests. More so if he has now relisted it for the same as the original price!

If he doesn't play ball, escalate it to a dispute through eBay.

Yeah , follow it up. Sounds like a lazy eBay seller that doesn't know his postage costs up front.
