Keyless entry and keyless start

I've not had these options before as my Megane 250 was the cup and didn't have the option - i've had a quick google around and can't see anything obvious i'm missing.

My 200T Lux does keyless start just fine but I can't work the keyless entry out? Surely that means batteries are fine, keycard is programmed just fine etc but just doesn't open the car. Could it be a sensor.

Do I have to turn a setting on somewhere? I walk up right next to the car with the key, press the handle button, put my hand behind the handle etc etc and nothing but it detects the keycard just fine when starting.

Any help/advice/blatently obvious thing I haven't checked or done would be great

i have not got a 200t but im guessing its just the same as the 197. you dont have to press the handle button that is to lock it just pull the handle and it should open ?

I didn't realise the button was for locking - as detailed in the first post though it happens whether I pull the handle or press the button first...either way doesn't work. Tried with both keycards also but neither works. Just tried it again without the button.

It's quite annoying, I could do without it no problem but the fact I know it should work but doesn't is frustrating lol.

What should happen is as you put your hand round the handle the car should unlock, then just pull the handle to open, maybe your pulling it before its unlocked, your hand needs to be between the handle and the door for it to pick it up.

Yeah that doesn't happen for some reason so maybe a sensor. I've asked the same on cliosport to see if there are any other suggestions. Not the end of the world, it'll be having a service from the dealer I bought it from in September anyway and under warranty so i'll get them to sort it then.

So in typical male fashion I still haven't read the handbook but reading elsewhere on forums has given me a solution that I may aswell detail just incase anyone else does get the same problems down the line.

Every time you unlock/lock the car with the buttons on the keycard, it resets the keyless entry option. To override this you have to start (and stop) the car with the keycard in the keycard hole on the dash. Did this and now the keyless function works both locking with the button on the handle and unlocking with the button on the handle. Success!

However, occasionally over the past few days I walked away from the car to a sound of the horn and flash of the indicators which is also the car locking and another setting renault can have depending on the option/make/model. It only did this really inconsistently, i'm guessing because of what I detailed above I usually overrided the keyless function by using the keycard to unlock and then starting the car with the keyless option but obviously occasionally would put the key in the hole for the card.

Anyway, it works now but i'm guessing I can adjust to my preference so i'll have a play around with it tonight after reading the handbook.

You will find if its anything like meg 250 touching any button on the card or the handle will over ride the keyless entry.

If i where to move away from my 200 (2010) out of range, would it auto lock?
(sorry for jumping in o/t)

No idea about the n/a 200. But on the turbo, providing you haven't used the buttons on the key fob (which overrides the keyless entry/exit function) your keyless locking would either be press the button on the handle or just walk off and when you are 3 or 4 metres away it will beep and the hazards will flash to confirm it has been locked.

It does detail this in the manual, which I was too lazy to read so apologies if this is old ground being covered but hopefully it helps someone else who has no time at home and wanted to find an answer when at work on the forums
