Clio v 225 v r32

Well looking at a new drive for the wife got. A few to look at , r32 golf mk4 5 door in blue with r32 trim , or a similar value Clio or meg , any peeps give any advice on running cost on a Clio or meg please , and what should i be looking at , I wouldn't mind a Clio , but we do have 2 kids and a fat staff called snatch !! So a 5 door is a better option , she potters around in the car never done over 80 , but I will rag the arse of it when I steal the keys ? Most week ends , have got up to about 5500 can go a wee but more but prefer to go a bit lower tbh then can pay insurance in one go ??

i would say the meg in all honesty. The r32's are nice but i believe they are v6's so will guzzle the fuel and arent that much quicker than the standard gti for some reason, where as the meg is a turbo so the revs will be lower and better on fuel. I love my clio but for a family car they are far from ideal.

What about a 5dr Meg 225? Best of both worlds with that, clios a no no with kids IMO.

With the Golf I'd rather get a R over the R32 even with hike in price because everyone always says the R32's are silly on fuel because of the huge engine isn't that quick anyway as has been said already + the 4WD munching through tyres.

The only thing that puts me off a meg is the build quality for my money it will be a ph2 225 yes look great but the build quality ? The newer meg is awesome but alas out of my price range unless I sell my busa and she has noooooo chance of that , the 225 does tick all boxes bar that , why can't I win the lottery lol !!

you could probably get an okay meg for well under your budget and have spare cash for other things. The r32 would just be cripplling in running costs, they get worse economy than a 197. Then with the spare cash turbo your busa

Ive had a 225 and now got a clio 197 (meg was written off).

Clio is **** on fuel. 23 mpg round town (I dont do any motorway), my 225 did 30 mpg whilst remapped to 270 and banged out flames without being too much of a granny.
Megane is very spacious inside 5 door would be my perfect family car if i had one.. Has more compartments to put things and under floor ones too.

I had my 225 for about a year and a bit, never wanted anything apart from cambelt and rear pads (30 quid) very reliable IMO.

Lol she thinks there crap mate as u well know , but it's my money lol so the wench gets wot she gets !!! She ain't having an evo 8 again as its just soooooo much too run , tell ya what sell yours lol that do fine !!

Clio is a perfect family car for me. I have the missus and two girls aged 5 and 8 and I have a dog!
Does everything I could ever need and my youngest girl calls it a Babi race car. Lol.

P.s my dog is only a 2lb chihuahua. Lol.

Going to view a 225 I think , as having never driven one I can't comment , wife currently has a 2.0 Gti golf that sees 34 mpg round town easy , and low 40s on a run , it's the 8 v and is surprisingly good in fuel for
a car that weighs 9 tonne lol

r32 for me, none of these have great mpg's, my mates mk5 r32 returns more that a mk3 clio. The r32's arnt the quickest, but they are great to drive and are overall a much better built car and nicer to love with. And in winter weather you'll feel untouchable lol!

It mpg is a worry, then look at none of the cars you mention

Although the V6 Golfs do sound the nuts, they just aren't quick enough to justify the running costs, IMO of course.
Another vote for a Meg 225.. What's the worst that could happen
