"Don't buy a Renault" They told me.....

What's wrong with yours?

From new under high rpm gearchanges there was a weird noise from the release bearing

Clutch slave cylinder failed at 6k - After change the clutch felt heavy and asif it wasnt disengaging fully - Renault said "its fine"

Gearbox failed at 13k - Steering knock after major front end work - Renault said "will have to wait for it to get worse before diagnosis"
- Still tight and difficult to get into gear at times - Renault refilled box twice but its still getting worse but they say "its fine"

Clutch now feels asif its slipping...they didnt replace the plates after the slave cylinder burst and assured me 110% there was no contamination. Slipping at 24k of light use and notchy gear change....i think there may have been contamination dont you?

TBH no wonder they think the gear change is fine when notchy. Sometimes i question if theyve ever seen an RS. When i bought my car the gearbox was a dream. Lovely and smooth. Real short throw. BLISS

However, the courtesy car i have atm with 2k on the clock will barely go in gear, its awful!!

Get rid asap.

I handed back a dog of a 197 last month. Lost some money but tomorrow pick up an immaculate RB 200 FF with cup. Much better motors out there.

****ing cowbuy ****s. Apparently after calling dealer for an update now the finance might not want to cancel the agreement. Which is news to me as I was not told this yesterday.

I called finance to see if this was true and they said they are waiting to hear from dealer after giving them the options but the dealer is saying they have requested the cancellation option and are waiting to hear from finance.

I called finance and dealer again after that and lost my temper on the phone, they are taking me for an absolute mug. Both are saying they are waiting for the other. My patience is seriously running out.,.

Have you contacted the citizens advice bureau to see where you stand and what you can to do speed up the process??

No, not recently. Last call I made to them was before rejection was finalised.

I went about it the wrong way but after I told the dealer and finance on the phone to shove the car and finance up their arse ( I was annoyed and know being like that won't help me) I did say to the guy at the dealer that it's obvious you're just trying to mess me about now because I'm rejecting the car, he denied it but it's not as though he'd admit to it.

I'll call citizens advice and consumer direct etc again but will likely just advise me to get another letter in writing to them.

I'm fed up with all of this now.

Not sure if your still looking for a Clio but this may intrest you if not to far away.

We have had a Clio 200 traded in and know the background of it. Its one of our saleman friends old cars.

I would be interested and surrey isn't that far and I'd travel far for the right car but looks as though with all this hassle not resolve I won't be looking at another car for a while.

I'm hoping all this is resolved asap though so I can look ast other cars.

Well another update, finance company called have informed me that they received an email from dealer this afternoon confirming that I did NOT want to reject the car and have not made any intentions clear that I was even going to reject the car, and as far as the dealer is aware the customer is happy.

So as it stands the car isn't being rejected until dealer confirm from the finance points of view. The dealer are obviously trying to mess me about now.

I'll be going there tomorrow now. My patience has run out....

Haul ass down to the dealer and get the manager to ring the finance company whilst you are there listening to the conversation.

That's exactly what I'll be doing. I'll be there ready for when they open.

I know they're trying to mess me about because I'm rejecting the car, so pissed off that they're doing this.

I won't leave until I hear/see them contact the finance company confirming the car is being rejected.

Looking back now I should never have collected the car. If I had left it there I reckon they wouldn't be doing this crap.

So angry that they can do bare face blatant lies....

I just hope anyone ever reading this avoids this dealer. Even if it's just one person that I put off then this thread will have been worth it,.

Wait til mid morning or early afternoon... Showroom should be busier then

As much as I'd like to make the biggest scene infront of people I'm just eager to get down there.

Still so pissed off with all this, it's been all about this damn car over christmas for me.

Don't know what I've even done for them to treat me like a ****, I bought a car in good faith, it had issues and to be fair I could have bought a new car and had issues, so issues in itself isn't a problem but it's how they dealt with it, first they tried avoiding paying for those issues, when they attempted to repair them after renault covered the costs it was back the next day with even more issues and they damaged it while in their possession, and now they're lying to the finance saying they were unaware that the customer was not happy and wanted to reject the car.

They are absolute cowboys.

This is shocking, have you contacted the ombudsman for the dealerships. I think they would be very interested in this case and it'll definately help push for the right action to be taken. I suggest you take a few people down with you when you go into the dealership then you have some witnesses to whats all going off in your talks with them. I'd be tempted to see a soliciter and take the case to court.

Try getting in contact with a few newspapers about the appauling service you recieved, will do their reputation wonders

Tell them you wish all correspondence in the future to be directed via mail to yourself or your solicitor til the matter is resolved, and post each correspondence up on here so we can get RUK watching proceedings for how little they are worth

Ah nearly forgot to say I received this. I better not spend it all at once lol. Seriously though it's better than nothing but 50 quid is laughable.

You both make some good points, I'm certainly not being taken seriously at the minute.

With phone calls and conversations in person it means nothing at all, so I need proof and things in writing. Although both the finance and dealership had it in writing that I was rejecting the car.

Ha ha, tis tons more than ive ever been offered by Ru wasted k, on either of mine, all i got was abuse from evans halshaw on thrm not being able to a cambelt change correctly and RRG offering more of their disservice of not doing a proper job, hence the reason i dont believe in RUK as they hid away on both occasions even when posted on the renaultspoiled forum
