Why you should remove your centre silencer!

I'm not sure if I find it too tinny sounding? Going from the standard setup minus the intake boom it's a nice deep roar when you give it some. Unless I'm getting an old fart because I'm having a baby soon :S ?

It gets less tinny all the time. Here's mine:

Is the rest of system standard?

Yup standard.

Wow, I think I'll add this to the to-do list, hows the flat spot?

Sometimes it's fine, other times quite bad. I got it remapped eventually using an RSTuner. Made it much better but it's still there a little bit. Remapping also increased my top speed by at least 5mph so it must have given me quite a bit more power. £180 well spent!

Is there a lot more cabin drone with it removed? It's the one thing I regret doing on my A3

I'd like to know this too. I keep thinking "wow this'd be amazing" then I think "don't be stupid, you'll ruin it". My fiancee would probably kill me too.

There might be a tiny, tiny amount more noise at speed.

I was quite apprehensive about having it done, but since I've had it done I haven't regretted it for a second.

IMO there is a noticeable drone but if crusing at 70 the difference is negligible. After 4k rpm is when the fun noises start to happen!
I will confirm where these noises happen on the way home tonight.

P.S. I think the popping more than makes up for the drone though! It is addictive!

I found 4.5k to be the sweet spot. Lifting off there results in at least 4-5 pops and bangs. There is also one at about 2k where it makes a sort of 'BOBOB' sound.

Maybe a dumb statement, but since its just the silencer and not the Cat(s) there's no problems with the MOT after lobbing this off?

Yeah I thought not, but I've been up since 5am and spent the last couple of hours figuring out how invoices should be rounded in SQL Server databases, I need to go back to bed! :bye2:
