De-catted Manifold: The results

Cheers Ben, i guess it must have been a non-starter otherwise the thread would have been updated long ago :worried:

I think its great what you've done mate, it always takes abit of bravery to test these setups out for the rest of us, and it sounds amazing too.

Performance gains seem interesting too. 2bh i've had enough of hearing about Woody's bigger valves and high idle thinking he is god and definer of the mk3.... lol.

I'm sure you're going down the right route for your tuning plan and it looks to be coming together nicely.

Quick question...

I'm in two minds about doing this to mine. Although, I'd be keeping the OEM Cat. By keeping the OEM Cat but removing this Pre-Cat bit, is this likely to cause any nasty little warnings to pop up on the dash or kill the emissions for MOT time?

Any help?

If removing this won't cause the car to run like a bag of sh!t and won't bring any warning lights on then I'll get it done.

I am god lmao

I know this thread is dead and buries but on the off chance you still have this setup an update would be nice? Did this bring your emission light up?

Shame. Anyone else looked into this or tried it out themself. Some feedback would be good.

Got my subframe off next week so could be worth it whilst I'm there.

I've read, but don't know how true it is, that the 200 Cup racers run without the precat in the manifold but retain the standard cat.

I'm also quite intrigued about this.

Rs tuning in leeds recon they will see good gains taking out both cats and mapping to suit! They were after a donor car a while ago

Interesting read! Definately potential in this modification, I wish a decent equal length manifold was available for the Clio, if there is I haven't found it yet..

£1200ish though before postage!?! :worried:

The OEM one looks pretty tasty already to be honest, certainnly better than 99.9% of other cars.

Removed both cats, had been mapped by a "tuner" up north. Still had a flatspot (100-200rpm of bouncyness).

The best map came from k-tec which i was very impressed with.

Sold the car because i had an offer i couldnt refuse!

Personally i would decat the whole system, and put a sports cat in. However gains would be marginal at the level of tuning most people seem to be doing.

But its worth it for the noise!!!!!!

Cup Racer still has the cat in the manifold, but the rest is de-catted.

Great write up mate and nice to see different mods being tested.

This is being completed on my own 197 with inspiration from yourself, should be finished in a month. When a car runs nitrous it is much like a turbo car where back pressure is a restriction and total freeflow is bhp, so hopefully I can squeeze a few more horses out that shiny bottle

Had my Y-pipe made yesterday:

Unfortunately, I don't know about the gains just from this mod because I'm rebuilding the engine from scratch (catcams 5504402, matched inlets, ported & polished head, Clio V6/R3 airbox, lightweight flywheel, Miltek full system with decat, remap,...).

At the end of the pipe, I made an opening for the wide band probe.

Oh, and the price - 25€.

P.S. I know, it looks awful - but it's - function over fashion.
