Laguna driver trapped for an hour at 125mph with no brakes...wtf!

lets hope its not another toyota floor mat issue :bored:

and if he had stamped on the brakes hard enough i think it would have stopped it :bat:

I tried to switch off the clios engine once while driving (approaching a red light) and the start button didn't allow it until I reached standstill...

you usually have to press it twice to do dont you?

after a few miles at 125 the brakes would be cool enough to jump on them again and stall the car...so question has to be asked should he have been driving if he couldnt bring it to a stop in the first place!!!

Now I'm going to be tempted to double tap my start button whenever I'm driving along to see if it cuts the engine out.

Thanks guys

couldn't he have dipped the clutch also?? I know it says that it was adapted for disabled people but surely it still has a clutch unless its an auto?

pretty sure I tapped more than twice, but I will try again today just to make sure

if he would be able to jump the brakes he would not need to drive a car converted for disabled people, I guess. From reading the article I get the impression his "fly-by-wire" system went sour... if you don't have a way to cut off ignition your options are quite limited. especially when your car (and I guess all cars for disabled people are for obvious reasons) is an automatic.

Was it a diesel?

These have been known to eat themselves from the inside before, running on the engine oil i belive.

If it was modified for a disabled person, i'd say auto and hand controls plus the panic it must have caused.
