Within about the first 20 ft

Hi guys,

Really liking the 200 but something puzzles me and hopefully someone can help.

I notice it more if its cold or been stood a while, but whenever I drive off I can feel a slight clunk through the accelerator pedal after about 20 feet of driving.

It sounds a bit like the a/c engaging but its not that as I can turn that on/off before moving away fine.

It happens every time and am not concerned by it but just wonder what it is?

It only does it the first time i drive off from starting the car, not if I come to a standstill and move off again without turning the engine off.

What do you mean by clunk through the pedal? Is it a jolt on the pedal or from somewhere else on the car?

I get a clunk sometimes but that cause the brakes have locked and me coming off the drive forces them free

Could be the self test that the abs does

If I reverse off my drive then drive forwards, the brakes clunk. I put it down to the pads moving slightly when you move forward as they have to be a bit loose in the caliper.

Thanks for the input, it does sound like some sort of self check.

I get the same.. and have assumed it's some kind of ABS thing. March 2011 car.
