If only Fred was the senior investigator for Renault.

In the 15 or so years i've been cocking with these things i know of 1 tech who i'd let work on my cars, he now runs his own Renault Specialist Garage (but mainly does the more normal stuff as there's more ££ in it!)

I'd love to go into dealers, there's stuff i don't know (ie diesels, ****ing witchcraft ******* things!) but i bet there's stuff their experts don't know about these Renaultsports!

ie - clio197/200 + Meganes - random metalic tap at idle due to some cambelts being too tight from factory (when hot) - common problem that i get all the time and the dealers say there's nothing wrong, easy to fix too!

Collapsed drive pulleys on ac pumps is a known problem. Renparts sell loads. I posted a video of the close call a customer had on an ly 197 last year.

I also had an engine change after catastrophic engine failure at 2 months old and 1500 miles.

Arnold clark Stirling bodged it back together it wouldn't go in a straight line and under braking it dived sharply to one side, I got Renault UK, Arnold clark customer services and RCI finance all involved and after months of banging my head off a brick wall I traded it in at a £5000 loss to myself as I was getting no where, I had bought the car as a track toy and couldn't do any renaultsport track days in it because of the issue I tried to explain it to them and all I got from them was the threat of voiding my warranty due to the car having been bought for track use.
Hi would that be the Arnold Clark with the grumpiest service manager I've ever met
cheers shocker

Gez I just got this from auto express on twitter

found the videos

Sounds exactly like what happened on my old 197 last year. Nearly chewed through the aux belt! Got it to Fred in time though, fixed it up in no time (cheers!).

@Gez - Really shocked by the lack of response you've had from RUK. In my experience, they've been great (e.g. 90% contribution on a gearbox just outside of warranty, and 60% on a Meg engine/clutch/fly 4 years out of warranty!). It's definitely worth persisting as you are until you get the outcome you're happy with. Love Renaultsport cars, but stuff like this really does put me off getting another (and I'm sure a lot of others too). Good luck!

Yeah I thought that too but wasn't as sure as I was on the wheel arches.

Just want to thank everyone for their help/advice and support so far. Means a lot and shows it's a good community on here.

Ill keep you all updated as this moves along.

Sorry chaps, just seen your replies. This is still ongoing, was hoping it would have been sorted by now... But I'm still having difficulties with them.

Why do clio cup cars not blow up when they crash into GRAVEL PITS on circuit?

They don't run with aircon for one.

No they don't need to run with arch protectors but they can do, airbox draws air from the wheel arch so nearly all run without them.
