Vernier Pulleys...

Just out of interest really...

If I was to fit a set of vernier pulleys but didn't change the cam, would adjusting them give me any performance increase or would I be playing with fire on the reliability side of things? It's not something I was particularly looking at doing, just wondered of the top of my head, like you do... Potential performance increase for not much money!?!

Nope. Lightweight v pulleys have to br custom made for the 197 too. I payed 230 for the set from a place my mate works that does cnc machining. They are made from mag alloy billets the gains are minimal its all about pick up speed. Helps it rev more freely not worth it if you havnt got a set of lumpy cams thgh mate.

I was just having a random read last night and found some verniers for £250 but I've never used them on anything before so wasn't sure.

you would either have to block the oil ways in the stock cams or replace the cams for non VVT items to run verniers
