Tom's 200 Track Toy

So I manged to get the short shifter fitted last weekend along with new brakes up front, all ready for Cadwell Park on Wednesday.

I didn't get many pictures of the process but I have the end result. The CAE shifter wasn't as bad to fit as I was anticipating, but it certainly helped having a mate on hand to operate the shifter while I adjusted it. Overall it worked great on track, its so much more of an occasion changing gear!

After that it was time for a brew! And then onto the front brakes, Brembo high carbon disc's and some Mintex Pads, but as these things go something had to go wrong. Drivers side retaining bolts for the disc would not give, so after plenty of heat and heavy persuasion, left hand drill bits and a stud remover all failed, I resorted to a drill and a tap. After all that they fitted up a treat just in time for some punishment at Cadwell.

I'm not sure what pads there were, a friend of mine got them for me but ill see if i can find out. I went to Cadwell Wednesday, first time for me and my Dad but it was great fun, the Clio never missed a beat.

Also as requested some more pictures of the car after a wash this morning. Next I need to fit the rear brace, rear pads and probably set about removing the front fog lights?

Anyway on to the pictures:

Car looks awesome! Makes me want to paint my diffuser a different colour.

Rear brace is a waste of money, does fuck all. All the other braces for me work well!

Well I can not say if the rear brace offers any benefits for myself as yet, and you may be right that it does nothing but either way I got it fitted and at the very least it looks the part.

Also if you guys can offer any advice, I am considering removing the door card and replacing with either ali or some sort of plastic sheeting. If you know where best I can get the right kind of material and what its call that would be a great help.

CAE is porn. No other words for it.

It's on my dream list of mods. Can you see any way of keeping the factory trim in place with the shifter installed?

Thanks for the links suj, I'll look into it later this evening.

Christopher, the trim looks like it would fit back into place, however I'm guessing it will need a bit of modifying to work. If you are wanting to get one of the CAE shifters though, I would certainly encourage it!

Contact CM Composites on Facebook mate. He does a front and rear door cards with the door handle spacers which you require! They're made from Foamex Board. You just need to cut holes for the window switches if you want to and screw em on!

It's on my list 100%, but I really want to keep it as factory looking as possible.

There's no realy way of me mocking it up beforehand either. CAE's are a rare thing on Mk3 Clios.

So a small update for the little track toy. I got around to making up some door cards, (all bar the handle spacers, which I'm waiting on) I just need to do a bit of painting on the top of each inner door skin to tidy things up.
At the moment I'm not sure how I feel about the overall look of the door cards, hopefully they will grow on me . . . . .

Anyway this is what I started with, some Carbon effect plastic sheeting.

I also bit the bullet and purchased a roof scoop to hep out with the cabin ventilation.
