A small update, removed the old subframe
    c42ba09a66cd4e6fc906db21aa036d01.jpg

A bit of tidying up in the wheel arch needed. The subframe is being swapped out with a cup race unit along with the wishbones, support bars. Been weighing up whether to install the EE brackets on the hub, decided not to at present as this means spending £400 on getting new extended drive shafts manufactured. May visit this again at a later date.
Removed the front radiator support and hacked off the arms which go forward to the road subframe. Surprised how much these items weigh!! Any way both subframe and front bar tidied up.

Both swing arms serviced with new ball joints, thanks to @karbonCup for the help in getting them out.

Both wheel hub/yokes tidied up with new bottom ball joints and wheel bearings. With the help of the kitchen freezer and a bit of scrap heap challenge engineering wheel bearings back on the drive hubs.

Just designing a new bottom engine/subframe stay to get rid of the shit rubber job. Involves a nice set of rose joints!

Bloody hope so and very soon!.....I'm hoping to be at the Blyton CS2017 event :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

Thanks, I would say I don't produce the best, but I enjoy it........a engineer by trade stuck behind a desk is not a healthy combination, so I look forward to things like this.

    Cheers.

Well made little more progress over the past few weeks, in between doing the house.

Front cup race subframe rebuild completed.

    099897db8840e9655157fb1c5f2fe54b.jpg

    And front end now complete

    d182eefae7c88e984d396f4d4be8e3dc.jpg

Decided to install a hydraulic handbrake (cheap eBay purchase) rather than a valve. Looking ahead to genre of events that I may decide to do at a later date.

I think might of cut the handle off too short.

    c569fb1d068f62ec515fc403ad58dc87.jpg

Anyway mocked in, need to finish off fitting the brake bias valve and piping up.

Whilst still waiting for brake hoses from another forum member to finally arrive. A little progress on the electrics. Just need to complete the dash switch connections and stick the ECU on .

    d8f8b07a0c0b1950782fd8b482cd3562.jpg

Mocked up MK1 of the lower torsion connector. Just waiting on mig gas to move to MK2.

    46c1a1b28a601241dfc58caf25d9e972.jpg

    Jobs still there do.

    - complete brake & clutch piping and recommission.
    - figure out wideband lambda set up.
    - radiator piping.
    - install one off design of engine mounts.
    - fit new windscreen.
    - strip out full Akro exhaust and install race exhaust.
    - throttle pedal and cable design.
    - test electrics and power up and commission ecu.
    - transport the car for Full geo set up.
    - rolling road for a full ecu map.
    - complete the other thousand small jobs. Manufacture Sump guard, seats, harnesses, roll cage padding, dash, petrol tank gauge, gear shifter................

I will make Clio day at Blyton...

Another spectacular update as always. One of my favourite threads on here. So much awesome stuff happening. Really looking forward to the end result. It's going to be the business.

Frosties sound deadening is a nice touch too.

Small update, brake system now complete from the bias valve/ handbrake to the back wheels.

    943349a71997063970a30a29fa0f17aa.jpg

    b7d65db45843fc377d19ec8a9f42dc0d.jpg

Shortened the handbrake lever, thought been able to operate it from upstairs bedroom was too much!!

Electrics now sorted...well tested. some small additions will be required to the scheme for the dash set up when I get round to deciding what to do. As well as installing a wide band lambda set up.

Had to redesign how the ecu was sited. Due to the loom and its restrictions in movement had to "jack off" ( finarrr finarr) from the back plate. Bit of wide alloy u channel, pop rivets, Velcro and a cable tie keeps it in place.

    31fc35cde8232dd77b538d25e3ccd6ef.jpg

Inside slowly coming together, steering wheel and quick release hub now in place. next job is drivers seat mounts.

Great project & build. Which seat side mounts & base are you using?

Using OMP base (i think) and some eBay alloy brackets. Problem is I had to mod the base to get rid of the offset with the pedals/SW.
They are a heavy lump so I'm going down my own route of manufacturing welded in mount points for the standard side seat brackets.

This week .....I've mostly been fabricating!!

    cab9cbc24cfb81b3391b9b7576835b2d.jpg

Although not brilliant, haven't welded for a good 8months and should of practiced before hand.

Tackled the throttle cable, mk1 design. Mk2 to come but does the job. Had to approach it this way to ensure nice smooth curves on the cable.

    7b300d6f7a0e5f9fd4a4ea2e19b57e05.jpg

Found these a little while back, had to do some work on them and still more in the way of replacing the bushes.

    86e2f1b3f1f9e8d2aa5f56d0e839fce0.jpg

Also test fit the android dash - using DTA S60 ecu with dtadriod app. Had some initial comms issues. As in baud rate on the rs232 to USB converter. Some duff USB leads!! But got there. Still playing around with the initial screen design but it's practical for now

In the process of fitting oil cooler and fabbing up a new alternator bracket. Tidied up the engine front, the sandwich plate is causing issues at the minute, trying to find a temperature sensor short enough to screw in the already ported plate.

    Oh this car is awesome,

If you could get a tablet the right size could you fab it into the original cluster whole?

Forgive my noob question but in this car what can you do with a hydraulic handbrake? what would be the advantage to it?

The tablet I have will fit in the cluster but the position it's at helps with my failing eyesight.
Hydraulic hand brake. I installed for what future sporting activity I ever came across i.e. Hill climbing, single venue stage rallies etc etc.
