North Korea......

The 'situation' continues to evolve, and the World and the USA have been incredibly slow to react. We've all sat and watched. For years and years. From the USA's point of view; Trump now and Obama before him.

North Korea's ability to produce, fire and engage long-range weapons has been building steadily. And whilst everyone has known and documented this; no-one has done a single thing about it. What did they think was going to happen long-term ?

IF Kuk-Sul-Won or whatever his name is does do something silly, the good news is that the USA will undoubtedly have an overwhelming retort; and while North Korea may well be able to fire a missile (Nuclear or otherwise) into Guam and maybe further afield - the difference is that that USA could probably react with 1000 bombs instantly.

I also hear they have some amazing undisclosed 2 mile deep bunker bombs, some amazing laser technology to blow foreign missiles out of the sky etc etc.

So they good news is - it could all be 'over' in 20 minutes.

At what cost though.......

Worrying times ?

I wish every one would just chill out and stop trying to kill each other tbh

Worrying times indeed Shuv! We just have to trust in the fact that whatever people's politics & beliefs, desire to hang on to power etc. that they all love their children too ( a mis-quote from a Sting song) & that the reality of pressing the button is too much to contemplate.

I doubt North Korea could launch a firework, never mind a nuclear missile. I also doubt China, who are one of North Korea's allies, would let anything happen given how much money America owes them. America could obliterate NK but Kim Jong Il has to put on a front otherwise his people will realise he's full of shit.

My missus is worried. We talked about it last night.

Someone mentioned it at lunch on site today as well. Between the six of us sitting in the room we chewed over the political consequences and the potential of conflict and decided quite quickly and unanimously to concentrate the conversation on topics closer to home that we had some control over.

So we talked about Football, gambling, porn etc... same as every other day:tearsofjoy:

Couldn't agree more Ben. We have no control at all - so in effect isnt worth worrying over...

**If only though.

Had a damn good think about it walking from work to the station tonight. Genuinely got a bit panicky about it, based on very little fact.
It’s a pickle of a situation, so many consequences for no gain whatsoever. That made me feel better until I realised that if you’re ever so down on your luck and lose control of your own country, why wouldn’t you have one last hurrah?
Hopefully if that were to happen, it would be over so quickly that we’d actually be ok.
That’s my ‘helicopter’ and basic view of it, though take comfort in the fact that’s a thought formed over the time it has taken me to type this, and actually, requires much more control and reason from a government/authoritative capacity.

Someone good with a sniper rifle needs to sort him out. In fact I think in reality it will probably come to that before anything serious is actually launched, can't believe America don't have spies/informants inside....

Some would say the same about Trump!:openmouth:

I think we should just send these guys in tbh. IMG_3981.JPG
In all seriousness though, this is something I've thought/worried about. Now we have our 9 month old little girl I find myself worrying about these more often.
I'd like to hope that it doesn't come to it. If trump attacks NK, they will in turn face the potential wrath of Putin - and we all know how much of a lunatic he is.

I much prefer worrying about where/if the next terrorist attack is going to occur. Sounds stupid I know, but at least those pricks don't have a nuclear arsenal. Yet.

Tbh I am 56, have lived through the cold war, which was over before most folk on here were born & in honesty I am not worrying too much. We have no control over these things so just get on with our lives & make the best of what time we have. Statistically we have a far greater chance of getting run over, murdered etc.

It's scary to think this is just what we know about..there's so much more behind closed doors that us civvies will never know. Feel for those in North Korea though, must be awful being stuck in a horrible regime listening to bull propaganda all the time. Agree with you though Pav, crack open a cold one and wait for this all to blow over.....

I think with Obama still in America we would probably be a lot calmer.

With Fart things get a bit more worrying.

If Guam is attacked. What would Americas response be?

Unless Nuclear weapons are used by NK I can't see America using them. Japan/China/Russia and South Korea are too close and will be affected by the fallout. And further afield too to less extents.
