More pops and bangs

I have the centre box removed on my 200 but want more pops and bangs, what can I do to get more ? I've heard of an overrun remap, does anyone know where can do this, preferably in the midlands or any other way of having more pops and bangs

I think it's K-tec that have done the "crackle map" mate do a forum search for that and you'll find what your looking for

Honestly mate, I'm not sure on the technicalities of how the crackle map works or if it'd shag your cat if it was fitted, so wouldn't want to guess. You could give Ktec a shout or get in touch with them through the site as they're a site trader and you're a paid member.

Just found a vid on YouTube of the ktec one (though I think there's a better vid kicking around somewhere on here) its from a user theederv who I'm fairly sure is a member on here

I'll say the same as I did on a similar thread on ClioSport.

Mapping in pops and bangs must be one of the most stupid things I've ever heard! what is the point? It's as bad as the 'turbo whisltes' you can get for your exhaust!

I've got no issues if it happens as a by product of other tuning work, but as a stand alone modification it's crazy!!

All my videos are on youtube mate if you type in clio rs200 oreca

I have one decat and crackle map and thats what you'll get! its an amazing set up!!!

I see you point (and agree to a certain extent) but there's no difference between mapping your car to sound better and fitting an exhaust/decat etc. On these cars at least non of those mods are going to give you real world performance gains its just noise.

Ive mentioned this before, when on overrun rest your foot on the throttle and it will pop and bang. No need to spend money on a special map. It is just a waste of petrol though.

The overun remap was specificly for 172/182s. It needs a decat (on the 1*2 map) and is quite a fun little feature.

I love how divided opinions are on it. I had it on my 182.

Was alright for a laugh but got a bit, tedious slowing down from higher speeds.

Possibly the chaviest post I've done on 197.net and will probably ruin my reputation haha this was a few years back though

Someone from K-Tec said that you don't need to remove your cat for the crackle map. The map doesn't actually changing the fuelling, it just changes the ignition timing. There is no more fuel in the manifold than before the map.

^ exactly

All you need to do is gently tap your accelerator rather than rest, just keep tapping it a it should burble and pop, but obvs if you want alot then the crackle map the way

Sometimes think the pops and bangs maps can sound a bit artificial, prefer it be a by product if that makes sense. Me just being picky lol
