Laptop sensitivity

Bought Felix a new cheapish laptop today for his homework.
It's an acer running windows 7

Problem is the touch pad is way too sensitive, only have to move the curser across something and it clicks it.
I know windows 7 has the thing where you hover over soething and it clicks/opens it but I'm not hovering I'm going over things and it selects them.
Can this be altered or even turned off so you have to double click like xp.

I've got a hp laptop with windows 7 and mine is no where near as sensetive as this acer.

Odd, is there something in the tray bottom right that relates to the touchpad? Usually there's some kind of HP or Alps software that is for adjusting the touchpad settings. Perhaps there is something in there.

Control Panel if that doesn't work too, shou be able to do it in there.

Go ito control panel, mouse settings and there is one that you can turn on and off so that if you tap the pad it clicks. Its the 1st thing i turn off whenever i have a new laptop lol

Not tech head at all so anyone got really basic steps on how to find and do it please.?
