197: Insurance dilemma

In fairness the £17000 quote isn't that bad for a Clio 197 at your age and driving experience. £1700 is £141 ish a month and if you can pay it all off on say a credit card and then 0% transfer it you'll save a bit too. Insurance company's charge like 10-12% for the privilege of you paying them monthly which I find an absolute rip off!

There's a lad I work with who passed his test about 2-3 months ago and he had a crappy old 206 1.4 and it was costing him over £200 a month with a gps box fitted too, his postcode area isn't the best.

He's swapped it for a Honda Civic 2.2 i-CDTI the other week which has a lot more power and he's gone with a different insurer for around £160 a month I think he was saying, with no gps box this time.

Madness really, the Honda is vastly more powerful than the 206 yet it's substantially cheaper for him to insure.

Does anybody on here have there clio insured as a second car . I just got quoted £890 off adrian flux because my 15 years ncb are being used another car . Can anyone recommend any other good specialists .

Whats the other car? Is it worth putting the ncb on the clio (if possible) and insuring the other car without the ncb?

A renualt kangoo van i thought the same thing but my policy isn't up until next june . It would of been under £300 with my ncb :disappointed: i'll see what greenlight comeback with . £890 there having a laugh .

Come live to Portugal :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy: You won't be ripped off here. I bought my Clio 200 when I was 18 (it was my first car) and insurance against all risks was 800€. I am 21 now and paying 300€ for legal insurance, theft and glass (because I break a lot of them on trackdays lol). I didn't know insurance in the UK was so expensive! It's crazy!!

Insurance is ridiculously expensive in the UK - like a lot of things related to motoring though! If you're a driver and own a car, you'll get shafted somehow along the way ::smiley:
