Head Unit/Speaker recommendations?

Looked at replacing my head unit and speakers because the sound quality just isn't cutting it.

Also want to retain wheel controls and display. Seen the thread about doing this (http://www.clio197.net/threads/info-retaining-stalk-controls-and-oem-display.5179/) but it's 7 years old and wondering if anything has changed since?

Any recommendations?

Thinking of this one (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00RXHBZLQ/?tag=clio197-21) but not sure whether there is an adapter for the wheel controls/display available?

The first thread is still relevant and nothing has changed since then. The headunit you're looking at can be used with the wheel controls however it does not have the sub out feature so cannot be used with the display adapter according to the offical sony specification page: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/in-car-receivers-players/mex-n4100bt/specifications.

The display cable is around £100. However i'm not sure if purchasing the display cable means you do not have to purchase the wheel control cable too. Perhaps someone who has the wheel control cable can give some more information.

I'm not particularly set on that unit or anything. If there is a better/cheaper option out there I'll go with that.

I suppose I never actually listen to the radio so the screen working isn't a major thing...

It mostly depends on if you're set of wanting a headunit with the sub-out display. If you're happy with just having the steering wheel controls work, a £50 headunit with bluetooth/aux/usb will honestly suffice and still provide better audio quality than the standard set up. If however you're set on finding a headunit with the sub out display functionality, i'd contact this company and see what the cheapest headunit is with that function: https://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk. This is one headunit they do with the "OEM Sub-display Ready" function but it is quite pricey.

Im guessing if I get one without the subout display stuff it just won't show which radio station is playing? It will still show time/temperature/input/volume level?

It will still show the time and temperature on the right, but you won't see input/volume level I believe. It will just say "Renault" on that part of the display.

Headunit looks good mate and the steering wheel adapter is the right one too :thumb:
