Guy's GW FF RS Clio 200

Hey everyone,

I have been on this forum for a while after previously owning a GW 197 Cup. But this was unfortunately written off for me by a lorry! I've since been meaning to create this thread on my GW FF 200. Anyway, I'm more about photos than chat so I'll let them tell the story.

I started with a Citroen C2 VTR which I owned for about 3 years. Some photos of it in it's prime and at FCS 2011:

Mods included a FK Coilovers, custom induction kit, full 421 decat race Ashley 3" exhaust system and a number of visual improvements (I like to think anyway!)

I then moved onto a GW 197 Cup. I fell in the love with the RS Clios before I could even drive or knew what they were. I just remember seeing a LY one and wandering what the hell it was. Finally, 3 years ago when I was 22, I got one!

Turned out this was the first every Clio 197 in Britain and was used as the press car.

However my love affair with this car was short lived. After only 8 months a lorry, in the wrong lane on a roundabout, side swiped me leaving the car in this sorry state below:

The car was hit and pushed up the crash barrier at about 50mph. I then effectively grinded my car for nearly 100 yards. This ultimately bent the chassis and the car was no more - CAT B write off.

I then had to get a quick replacement - Ford Fiesta ST. Clean example which I just lowered and was something to abuse for a couple of years. Car is ok in a straight line but frankly appalling at putting down the power or turning a corner with any real means.

Finally! I came back to the RS Clio. After learning a lot with the 197 I knew I wanted a Full Fat 200 ideally in LY or AG - however, to get the spec I wanted with my budget, I had to stick to my original 197 colour of GW.

Did a good deal and trade in with MCR Specialist cars to get this about 5 months ago...

As she sat the day I got her. I found the reg and knew it was an owner on here. As I found the for sale thread and how much he sold it for I managed to get a good deal for myself. The gearbox did immediately start to crunch after I bought it but this was sorted under warranty with no issue.

the car looks really clean..very nice upgrades and the exhaust :001_tt1:
those Oz's will finish the look of your car nicely..did you get the RS gear knob from Renault or ebay?

Very nice looking car indeed and some good mods too.

The accident in the 197 looks very nasty! I bet you were absolutely raging! Good that you weren't injured though and great to see that you came back to a Clio :thumbup1:

@connor_rs200 - I have a feeling they might buy them up cheap with the gearbox issues, change the oil so you don't notice it for test drives and then sell them off at a higher margin with the warranty. Car comes back to them for warranty work, so they make more money, which is then claimed against the warranty company. Not a bad way to do it haha!

@Pav - cheers dude! Yeah the exhaust is by far the best mod and worth every penny. RS Gear Knob was cheapo eBay as the genuine one is far too much for what it is. Yeah really want those OZ wheels but have you seen the ones they have on KTECs supercharged 197? :001_tt1: I might need a set of them instead!

@jimmyd81 - cheers dude! Yeah nasty accident, was a sad and sorry day. Took 2 years to sort in court as well. I lost my petrolheadism whilst driving that Fiesta but so much happier to be back in my favourite car.

@Chris91 - most definitely! I'll buy the next second hand one up

@Deaks - cheers dude! Spotted the underpass in Bristol over Xmas when buying my tree. Unfortunately when I got that shot it was quite busy so I need to return much later at night to get some more. Especially since that photo is already out of date!

Some update photos. I got my headlights tinted, fog light tints changed from yellow to match the headlights, side repeaters tinted, B Pillars wrapped in 3M carbon fibre and my favourite thing of all - a red stripe on the front blade!

looks good there..just be aware that the center pillar carbon wrap might fade away at the top a little..happened to me ..noticed after a few months..its down to using diff products such as polishes, waxes etc..
will wrap it again when the weather gets a bit better but this time I'll spray lacquer it too..done same to my front and rear diamonds and no problem whatsoever...

Cheers fellas

Yeah Pav the dude said not to get any wax or polish on it as you will never get it off. I'll see how it holds up for now and if not I'll try out the lacquer.
