**Clio 197/200 Race Car Build**

yes itd cost alot to do but would be seriously cool and you know as well as i do how tuneable the engines are. Worth every penny in my eyes. Just get the car to me and il have it done for you in no time.

haha that's the thing though, it just aint really worth it! My problem is I've already spent enough in mods alone to buy an E92 M3, and the one thing the Clio will always be regardless of what motor is in it..... a fwd hatch :\ As a new project on day 1, deciding to K20 is probably the way forward, but for me though that ship has sailed. Besides I've now bought all the rebuild stuff including another set of Supertech valves etc!

Had a pretty good day on the car today, after making a few orders up for dispatch this morning and sorting the bag tank for the cup racer i cracked on with it for the rest of the day and made some progress!

little pic of the bag tank plumbed up and wired..the car will be used for endurance races, britcar and the like.

first up was getting the aerocatches fitted on the bumper for easy removal, actually managed to use the wing/bumper/arch liner bracket to locate the pins..

Only problem with it was that it meant te catches had to go right on the edge of the bumper but thats not something that wories me tbh..

Then i decided to cut some holes for air flow, some of you may not like this next bit but function over form and personally i think it looks pretty cool!

Next up was the slam panel, the bodies sat about 5mm from the panel so something had to be done as i need to run a filter or airbox of sort.

started with this..

and ended with this..

20160526_154924_zpsbiq6l7ac.jpg

giving me a shed load of room for not only a filter or airbox but possibly a longer manifold, spacers and 120mm air horns over the 90s, so i may be selling the inlet manifold for this, if interested get in touch.

Surely the filter covering the ITBs is gonna get properly minging/soaking when it rains (Which it tends to do here lol)?

Awesome project none-the-less.

Might be ok, at that point I think the airflow will be mostly laminar again and low/ish pressure, so I doubt enough water will get in to trouble the filter. There was a guy on here doing a 3d model of the Clio with airflow - but we only ever saw the rear of it I think. Find the post and get him to show the frontal shots, if that area is still in turbulent airflow and high pressure then I believe that would be more an issue for water ingress. - I'm not an aero buff though, but the frontal shots will help someone who is.

And if lots does get in, well water injection and more ignition advance

Think it will look better painted...

it wont be too far off what is but yes i see what your saying. As said function over form

As Rich said, dont think itll make a difference tbh, once in motion etc itll be fine. Even it did flood through, nothing a cover wont stop on the rainy days!!

Popped to the paint shop this morning to drop the front bumper and skirts off, as i pulled up the boys were prepping my other panels so thought id hang around and see the panels in colour..a little bit lighter than imagined, still 6 shades darker than the interior so should work with my visions!!

FAO YIANNIS197:

thats all the fg stuff done, front bumper still needs insert done in gloss black and another little something, then the plastics can go in (wings, skirts, rear bumper, mirrors and spoiler) will hopefully see these bits fitted next week along with again hopefully package 2&3 from holland!!!

here we go: http://www.clio197.net/forum/showthread.php?52159-clio-197-200-cup-wing-info/page2
@Zuban have you got the front images of your airflow models mate?
HI, I can do any angle no problem. The model is still a work in progress, but I was also curious when you asked so I have mocked up a similar setup. I think you are correct in that the bulk of airflow still is following the shape of the car, although you can see a definite difference in the pressure gradient from one side to the other. Proline is right in that it shouldn't cause a serious problem, and nothing a partial cover would not sort, meantime it would provide a very good source for cool higher than ambient pressure air.

Legend, great work Zuban :thumbup1:

So the holes are mostly in high pressure (so low air speed) which will be good for air certainly, and I guess just see how it is for water ingress - it's on the transition from the air turning from turbulent to laminar so chances it's going to be fine.

Little update, not much but something is better than nothing

Cup racer exhaust sourced this week, all in very good condition. Not sure this will be the final exhaust for the car but for now itll do just fine.

Plastics4Performance window kit, best on the market imo..fully thermoformed for a factory like fit. Top class!

20160602_171612_zps1tctuzyu.jpg

Also picked up most of the panels from paint yesterday, very happy with the outcome albeit the paint being slightly lighter than i anticipated but looks awesome imo so yes...very happy

Got them fitted up yesterday/today, just the rear quarters and roof to be painted but thatll be done once the cars back on its wheels, at least now the car can be pretty much assembled without it having to come back apart, pretty arse about face way of doing things i know but it fits the plan so its been done this way....fitted front polycarbs also, as well as aerocatches to the bonnet.

Just front and rear bumpers, spoiler and mirrors t collect which if i get time il go and grab tomorrow.

Great build, enjoyed reading that. I know the time it takes to ensure a good quality result. Mine took an age, its all the small bits and finally finished it end of last year.

Any Cup parts needed let me know Im happy to help: sales@apmotorsport.co.uk

Just caught up with this thread. What a progress!

Proline thanks for the pic! Now that looks the business:smile:

btw are you happy with the job done by the bodyshop mate? I'll be looking for one at some point soon..
