Anthracite Wheel Damage

Guys/girls,

Had a slight nightmare this evening as kerbed my rear wheel doing a reversing round the corner. Absolutely kicking myself as you can imagine as I am normally so careful. A bit of damage seems to be mostly surface damage nothing deeper than 3mm at the deepest rut.

Problem is I am running the R27 anthracite rims and had been warned previously they might be tricky to repair should anything happen. Have any of you heard of this being a problem? Is there anything/anyone you can recommend?

Any help/advice appreciated

Cheers

Can get them done at your local wheel refurb centre but the chances are the refurb'd wheel wont quite match the other 3.

You could just get all 3 powercoated. I got a set of wheels done (I'm just outside Glasgow) at a place called Cameleon Colour Coating (I think its in Renfrew, just before Glasgow airport) and the quality is superb. Had them a yer now and they still look box fresh.

Sound - if you dont mind me asking how much did they charge for a full set? I am going to see the Wheel Specialist out by E.K. today. Im quite fussy, so if they cant get the colour close enough I might consider buying a new wheel (if it is cheaper than getting all 4 wheels re-finished)

I was 225 quid to get my wheels done in gloss black (It would have been 200 if I had picked any other colour that wasnt gloss black though). You give them the wheels and four days later you pick them up like new. They also offer a day service. Drop the car off in the morning (leave it with them) and pick it up at the end of the day (its more expensive to go down this road though)

The quality was/is superb. Think I'll be going back soon to get my spare 197 wheels done black to.

Went on the RS forums and there is a section there on wheel colours etc. Managed to locate the correct code for the Bebops so just going to get a local guy to do it, my boss has used hime before and quality was excellent. I'll let you know how I get on.

Stevo could you give us that paint code please?
I've got the same alloys and when I bought the car the rear passenger one was kerbed and I've been wanting to get it fixed.
Also I'd love to hear how they match up so keep us posted

Sorry for the late reply Neil - hadnt checke dthis thread out in a while.

I had the paint code on a bit of paper on my desk and it's been lying there for months. Lookign for it today and surprise surprise it's disappeared! I'll send you the link for the RS forum page relevant to the paint code...

Code is IXELL 205-272.

FTR the wheel damage is untraceable by sight, but I can feel a change in texture when I wash the wheel. I am happy with the results and I hope you have sucess in your repair.

I know it’s a bit late now but I would be wary about smart repairs.

I had mine repaired by a local cowboy outfit, colour was totally different and now the white has turned to brown.

Will never have a smart repair again, only full refurb for me.
