Decided to start a build thread for my the 200. I picked the car up at the start of this year following a flight to Edinburgh and a long 7 hour drive back South. It's a 2010 Clio 200 FF with Cup Pack, 50k miles and in great condition with no real wear and tear.

I've spent a fair bit of time going round the car and the only defects I've found are 1 wheel bearing that needs replacing and a faulty cruise control switch.

I've bought the car purely as a track toy and really looking forward to getting the car on plenty of UK trackdays as well as 2-3 trips to the Nurburgring this year. I'm by no means the next Lewis Hamilton having only ever done a handful of trackdays and one trip to the Nurburgring but have missed not having a fun car over the last year, so can't wait to get back on track.

Below are my last couple of cars which have been a mix of daily and track. As I have an X5 for my daily now, this is the first time I've owned a car purely for track use.

My plans for the Clio 200 so far are as follows:

    - Lightweight Seats. I've managed to source a set of Recaro Pole Positions
    - Removal of Rear Interior.
    - Wheels. Set of Oz Ultraleggera's arrived today
    - Cup Spoiler. Awaiting Paint.
    - Coilovers.
    - Roll Cage.
    - Harnesses.

Currently struggling to decide whether I want to completely gut the car and go out and out race car or maintain a clubsport spec, not sure I can live without carpet and door cards! I will be looking to save as much weight as possible, having taken the car to the weigh bridge recently I am starting from 1350kg including me and a full tank of fuel. If I could save 100kg I'll be happy.

Anyway, enough waffle heres some pictures of the car.

Great start Ben mate. Forget how nice your E46 was, except for the ambers!

Ultraleggera are sheer Clio wheel porn of the highest order.

As for the weight reduction, on a car this small and light, you'll feel pretty much anything you do, but in my opinion, if you're going to do it, do it right. Glass swapped for plastic sides and back, EVERYTHING out of the interior, carbon body panels, the lot. That is if you're not thinking about selling as a road car eventually.

Either way, looking forward to the progress, I know you're going to do a good job here!

great read..good luck with the weight saving..you should be able to shave a 100kgs of the current weight no problem..just rear seats will give you over 20kgs..
have a good time tracking your baby

No I've been terrible, I pretty much had a shopping list of parts before I had the car! I will tinker with the engine eventually but as I know there's not much to gain, I'm focussing elsewhere for now. Initial thoughts would be carbon intake, engine back exhaust, inlet matching and larger TB, possibly cams and remap.

Yeah I'm hoping so, the Pole Positions only weigh 7kg, so combined with the removal of the rear interior should net a decent saving. The new wheels are also a good saving over the stock wheels. I'll be weighing everything that comes out of the car to keep track of it all.

Gorgeous AG, I had an albi blue 197 before mine too. Gonna start modifying mine this year but not going to go mad as I want it to be my daily. Love those wheels too!

Bit of a frustrating day with the car. Decided I was going to fit the new OZ Ultraleggera to the Clio, part of the reason for choosing this wheel was due to it being wider and lightweight, turns out it's not as lightweight as expected.

Clio Cup Wheel with Conti tyre - 16.7kg
    Oz Ultra with AD08R - 18.6kg

Given that my whole aim with the car is to go lightweight, I was hoping to net a reduction not add weight. That aside they look great  Have also swapped the OEM bolts for some new TPI black bolts.

The next frustration was that after successfully switching 3 wheels, it seems the locking bolt on the 4th does not fit the locking key :worried: so now on the hunt for a tyre shop who can remove this for me. So currently looks a little odd on one side, luckily it's not my daily. Hopefully a few more updates over the next few days.

Here's the link mate. You'll need to include a message to them asking for M14 not M12 though.

Ben, are you sure mate? That sounds way off what they should be. A 17x8 Ultraleggera should be under 8kg no?

Not questioning your weighing ability mate but that's nothing like what I've seen quoted for these. Very surprising...

    Looks bloody ace though!
