2010 Clio 200 Cup

So I'm Greig, I'm new on here and Clios are completely new to me! I am usually a VW man (had over 20), and prior to the Clio's had a 340HP Mk5 Golf GTI, and I am currently restoring a Mk2 GTI 16v in Oak Green.

I got offered the below Clio 182 in exchange for a deal on the Mk5. It was polybushed, on coilovers, had a PMS shifter etc etc.

Holy shit it was awesome, and I realised I should have bought one years ago. But on the daily grind, I was a little concerned with reliability, due to high mileage and it being an old french car laugh.png . Sold it to my friend Andrew and decided to stick with the Clio's and upgrade to a 200 Cup.

So after seeing a couple of 200s in Scotland that weren't to my standard, Andrew and I flew down from Aberdeen to Birmingham to pick it up and drove it up with no problems

Plans are simple, a set or Recaros, either pole positions or the Clio CS ones, potentially a secondary decat and some polybush engine mounts. I'll detail it in spring, as it would benefit from it. Oh and better photos as mine are terrible haha. Other than that, I have a mk2 to get back on the road, so that needs funds.

On the whole, it seems a good step up from the 182, not as raw, but just as fast and definitely more capable.

Welcome along and definitely echo the feelings towards comparisons between the 182 to the 200.

How strange...I'm originally from Birmingham (although living in Dundee now) and I got my 200 from Aberdeen. Lol

Lovely looking car! That road in the 182 photo looks like it could be good fun :thumb:

Thanks. Thats the Road from Braemar to Perth over Glenshee. I would highly recommend it if you are ever up this way. It's kind of like my proving ground for cars!!!

Car looks GREAT !

'New stickers' to the radio. Thats a new one.

Please explain.....genuinely intrigued

I thought maybe a few people would know about these:

I bought them on eBay, peeled the old ones off and fitted the new ones. If you do it, I would recommend going down the first way it describes to do it. I didnt and I think it would have looked better

Mine is fine.....but that's really interesting and not something i've ever seen before. For our cars or anything else !

I stumbled across something similar a while back but didn't realise what's on the car in the first place were stickers that could come off...useful to know for future reference.

Although tbh I use the steering wheel stalk more than the radio buttons lol

Not much to report really. I managed to get 2 powerflex polybush engine mounts for the clio at a good price so ordered the other 2 up. So have the following to fit:
Lower engine mount insert
Upper engine mount insert
Upper engine mount torque arm bush
Gearbox mounting bush insert

I gave it a quick wash at the weekend, so thought I would take a couple of photos on the way home:

Plans are still to get it mapped in a few weeks and to look at seat options. Instead of the factory fitted recaro CS, I am thinking of more Corbeau Clubsports or Recaros PPs, with no rear seats and some form or brace in an R26R/clubsport style. But I'm still enjoying the car for what it is and in no rush to make those changes. Perhaps something I will look at after I finish and sell on the mk2.

Nice worthwhile updates buddy. Bet that feels better !

What 'cool' seats you fancying ?

Initially was wanting the Recaro CS's, however I have been more and more keen on either Corbeau club sports or Recaros PP's. I should really get a build thread up for my mk2 GTI

Since it was the long weekend, I went out to my parents and gave the car a good wash. Living in town is great, but I just don't have the same space to give it my usual standard of cleaning.

Was just a wash, decontamination and wax and an interior valet, but gave me a nice little boost.
