That's bad news regarding the car breaking down. At least it was at the end of the day not at the beginning. What are the symptoms?

So I ripped apart the block to replace the piston rings I fried last night and after a suspect crank sensor I found this...

Had a bit of a night yesterday....

Firstly started by getting the brakes off and well would be rude not to get a pic of them on20180619_191030.jpg 20180619_191033.jpg
Then set about getting the box out to find this..

This is the damage in the bell housing..

This is where it's from..

And the hole it left in the box..

So now it sits like this..

So what's your next step?
Sorry to hear..these things are to be expected when you track your car as often as you....

When mine started crunching I started to stock pile and have a new clutch slave oil and the box i bought as a spare so I have all the stuff I need and was always planning to change it after Combe but didn't expect a free lift home.

And yeah the abuse it gets is part and parcel and this is the exact thing i wanted to happen and the reason why i have done so many trackdays this year imagine if this had happened coming out of the Karussell the cost involved would have been mega..

And after yesterday it still sits like this had a evening of just getting small bits done I have started sorting my subframe out best I can as it's a bit bad and got the clutch back in but the main thing I needed to do was tidy I couldn't even get to my tool box yesterday so this morning getting my bike out this was how it is.. 20180621_080530.jpg

Everything worked ok bar esp light was on however took the sensor out and cleaned it and now it's all ok I'm just painting the rad support and waiting for it to dry so by tomorrow it will be all back together. Hopefully.

good progress Carl..glad all is going well..always nice to have a mate who doesnt mind getting their hands dirty...hope she is up and running soon...

Good work. At least it wasn't too bad if a fix and you're ready to go again. Taking gearbox's in and out of these is a regular thing that I learnt with them.
