New Clio RS owner from The Netherlands

Haha ok. I use Ferodo DS Performance. They are not the best for track use as the pedal feel gets spongy, but deceleration keeps stable. I have them because the Clio is my only car and I commute on bike, so I decided on pads that work well from cold. I am upgrading to 2 sets of pads and have a...

New Clio RS owner from The Netherlands

Hi fellow countryman, welcome to the forum. Nice car, with the cup chassis and the Recaros it will be great fun. You'll love it on track. If you hammer the brakes you definitely need uprated pads. Some tires with a stiff sidewall will give more control and sharpness to the handling. I had...

New owner 200 Rs Cup from the Netherlands

I have the exact same problem, but my shift times are not longer than a second. It is slowing me down on track though. I changed my gearbox oil to Ravenol Racing, but it hasn't completely solved it. Low rpm and cold driving the shift has improved massively and is now silky smooth. High rpm is...

Hi Antti, I have no experience with exporting from the Netherlands, only importing into the Netherlands. But if you do, don't hesitate to contact me.

New owner 200 Rs Cup from the Netherlands

Hi Rick and welcome from a fellow countryman. My 197 R27 is Nimbus too, such a great color. Maybe we'll meet one day at the Nordschleife because I'm also a big fan like you.

    BLJ's Nimbus R27 - Black Dipped wheels

A friend of mine visited. Shows off the differences quite well :) For him it was his first drive in an RS and was really impressed. Eagle eyed viewers might have spotted the black rims. I decided to go for matte black plastidip. Here are some photos of the process. The yellow plastidip was...

    BLJ's Nimbus R27 - Black Dipped wheels

Been a while, but I have been busy in the meantime. So, it was finally in sight. The day I'd drive my own car around my local track: TT Circuit Assen. I grew up about 10 minutes away from there, so I visited many times. I have seen the track evolve, getting much more modern the last 10 years...

    Hello from Dublin

Thanks for the detailed answer. I only have the upper torque mount in powerflex. While I'm happy with the throttle response and lack of engine movement, the shift quality leaves some to be desired. I'm just gathering info and make my plans from there. :)

    Hello from Dublin

Welcome. Nice going on your mods/work so far. How are the vibrations from your engine with the new powerflex mounts?

    BLJ's Nimbus R27 - Black Dipped wheels

Thanks guys. It's called OKÉ Wax. I don't know if it's sold outside the Netherlands. I got it at the largest local car parts store.

    BLJ's Nimbus R27 - Black Dipped wheels

I've improved the look of the car by removing and restoring the front grilles. I refrained from respraying them and the result is not perfect. But it is much better than it was. I used a product my friend recommended me. He tested all kinds of trim restorer products and this wax-like product...

    Gear change noise

My 197 has the same but only when releasing the throttle very abruptly. I think it sounds like a normal exhaust burble on the overrun, because the ECU is programmed to drop the rpm quickly to enable quick gear shifting.

    Engine Oil Consumption

I've had mine for 2000 miles now. It had a service about 200 miles before I bought it. I assume it was at max then. When I checked the oil level last weekend, dipstick told me about 90% above min. That means my engine uses roughly 1 liter per 20.000 miles. 2008 197 with 89.000 miles and 5W-40...

    BLJ's Nimbus R27 - Black Dipped wheels

Well it's my daily and it's parked on the street mostly. I don't want it to stick out too much, the Dutch aren't as car minded as you lot ;) I have thought about lime green or orange. I might go with red if I ever buy dedicated and lightweight trackday wheels.
