    197: Gearbox replacement garages

Just fitted a recon box from renparts, it was fitted at a local garage, can’t fault the box they sent me at all. I think they do offer a fitting service.

Steering wheel squeak and interior rattles

Yes my passenger door seems to be the worst area, speaker covers aswell. Ordered some of that tape, I’m guessing you removed the trim and taped up the inside?

Steering wheel squeak and interior rattles

Thanks for the reply, I had been stuffing Blu tack behind the panels but this only seems to work temporarily. I’ll give the tape a try thanks. My steering squeak sounds like it’s just behind the wheel, I’ll whip it off tonight for a closer look.

Steering wheel squeak and interior rattles

hi all, currently trying to hunt down any rattling trim inside the car. Have an anoying squeak right behind the steering wheel also the instrument cluster. Plenty more trim also rattles at various revs. Has anyone else had issues and what fixes/bodges did you use ? Thanks

Weak syncros may not be the issue after all...

Is there any reasons 3rd and 4th synchros failures are so common? Don’t seem to hear about 2nd, 5th etc

Weak syncros may not be the issue after all...

The gear changes were much quicker from what I remember, and from reading the above they were probably too quick for the box. There may be no connection. I believe the sprintbooster only sharpen the throttle response.

Weak syncros may not be the issue after all...

Mine had the box replaced under warranty at 29k, cars now on 64k with the second box crunching. I did have one of those sprint boosters fitted for around 6months. I believe this has contributed to the second being damaged.

    Whiteline Springs?

I’ve currently got refreshed 200 cup shocks on grams springs, the ride on B roads can be very harsh. My understanding is that car is actually skipping over the bumps in the road with this setup. By fitting softer spring and dampers the tyres would actually be in contact with the road more...

Ticking sound at the right side of the engine!

My old 182 sounded very similar, the water pump was very squeaky, still used it for a few weeks though. I’d get it sorted sooner rather than later
